Taylor Hall's hat trick

Funny, but I don't think people are hard enough on the guy. His performance with Buffalo was inexcusable. He signed there for a year at big money, and just barely had a pulse while waiting to be traded.

Hall has been a nobody ever since. This hat trick is just some dead-cat-bounce before he's out of the league.

He was very good in Boston. Seems like he has trouble getting the effort level up on bad teams like Buffalo and Chicago. Obviously not something that is forgivable if you are a fan of those teams, but meaningless to Carolina (or Boston before that).

He's been a very welcome surprise for the Canes since coming over. Would definitely be interested in extending him to help give us depth scoring going forward, especially if we can use our cap space this summer for some top line help

I understand Hall didn't fit the timeline long term but why did the bruins trade him away so soon? They would've been better with him in the playoffs last year, no? l

Good to see Hall get a hatty. Seems like a lot of people don't understand how much Hall has developed as a 200-foot forward. There's this assumption that he's an offensive bust. Hall's game is that of a good two-way forward. His excellent skating helps a lot with that. Crap luck with injuries has really hindered Hall.

Boston was very good while Hall was there. But Hall wasn't very good.

He was there parts of 3 years.

First he got 14 points in 16 games when he first arrived in Boston, which only highlights how pathetic he was before that point with Buffalo, getting 19 points in 37 games (with only two goals!).

His 2nd year he was carried by Bergeron and Pasta to only 61 points. Not great when he was just extended for 4 years and was supposed to be a big-deal scoring forward.

3rd year he was already starting to look like a pumpkin again. That's why he was dumped in a trade with Chicago. He was traded for essentially nothing at all. Seems Boston's management knew he was worth nothing.

As I’m sure you know, putting players in different environments often gets a different result. Florida doesn’t win the cup LY without getting “rejects” from Buffalo (Reinhart) Calgary (Bennett) and Carolina (Forsling).

Right now, Hall fits Carolina like a glove with his grit, speed and ability to work well with his line mates.

Re: Boston—I’m not sure using them as a role model for player acquisition/drafting lately is a good example these days.

He didn't play with Bergeron and also he was dumped because of cap reasons not play reasons, any Bruin fan will tell you this. It seems like you have a bit of an agenda ngl.

Your version of the events just isn't the reality. Hall barely played with Bergeron or Pasta, lol. Hall + Coyle together on the third line was a big part of what made Boston good.

If you keep your expectations in check he’s a great add. He still holds the puck in traffic well, aside from Aho he may be the best in the team at it. He’s playing a two way game and he sets up a surprising amount of chances for his generally offensively inept linemates. He’s giving the Canes depth. His shot isn’t very scary and his puck control isn’t what it used to be so he’s not a huge finisher but he’s noticeable and generating chances.
