Recalled/Assigned: Taylor Doherty to SJ 1/21

If Hannan is still on IR another d-man will need to have to come out of the line up before Doherty has to play.

Based on his play in Worcester this season I think he'd be fine as a #6 in a sheltered role for a game or two especially against teams like WPG and Minn.

I did say "in case of injury".

I'm sure he'd be "okay" as a #6, but the issue is that when healthy, we already have two #6 guys playing (and they're both on the left side). I don't know about you, but I don't want three #6 defensemen.

Yeah, I was thinking the only way Doherty would play is if a defenseman got injured during the morning skate. *knocks on wood*

If a defenseman gets injured in practice a day before a game, they could technically send Doherty back and bring up Tennyson, right?

None of the d-men from Worcester would be anything more then "okay" as a #6.

One thing to consider is that Vlasic has taken a few lumps the past few games. He took a hard slash on the arm against Calgary and was favoring it. So maybe there is a chance they are contemplating giving him a night off.

Sure, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Tennyson's skating if we had to play one of them.

Anyway, I'm sorry I over-reacted, but with how the Sharks' injury luck is going these days...

Yeah, even my casual fan friends are starting to notice something seems off about Vlasic. Would not be shocked if Vlasic were injured.

Alternatively, Doherty could be a warm body to replace Vlasic in practice drills.

The Sharks have had to dig pretty deep into the Worcester forward depth and they've done okay so far. Judging by the responses, I guess we better pray we don't have to rely on the Worcester defensive depth  If this is the case, DW needs to acquire another NHL caliber d-man or two just in case.

Ya, I mentioned this about a week ago and again after the TB game. I don't think he's 100% but I don't think he'll be coming out of the lineup either.

I don't think so either but hopefully we don't get any kind of horrible "Surprise Vlasic broke his wrist!" Holding him out of practice and let Doherty work with Johnson and Big Bird makes sense as well.

Yep, and like I said, he's earned this call up with his play this season.

666? Doesn't sound good lol

I hope it's not anything serious. I'm happy for him making team Canada but looking at the larger picture I hope he would rest instead of play if he wasn't able to at a high level. Todd Doug need to make the call

Well its better then 3 number 7's on the team which we have iced pretty frquently the past few years lol.

I think we may have a few bumps and bruises in our top four. Anyone else notice brad Stuart's ice time lately? Last few games, he has played more than vlassic, demers or Braun. Over twenty minutes each game. (Keep hoping its a showcasing before a trade thing).

McLellan on Doherty's re-call:
“Just a switch,†McLellan said. “Both of them have played well — a reward for Taylor’s play in the minors, a chance for Matty Tennyson to get back into the lineup. We don’t like to have players sit for too long.â€

Pretty much what most figured.

Sorry, I don't understand why anybody would be having a cow over Doherty being called up to play or not.

I don't even know if its possible to play any worse then Brad Stuart has been. I wonder if Stuart's problem is still related to the injury he had before the season started.

Short are the memories of Sharks's fans....

Recall Semenov, Murray, White, Fahey....
