Sorry. Guess I missed the obvious there.

If Hannan is still on IR another d-man will need to have to come out of the line up before Doherty has to play.
Based on his play in Worcester this season I think he'd be fine as a #6 in a sheltered role for a game or two especially against teams like WPG and Minn.

I did say "in case of injury".
I'm sure he'd be "okay" as a #6, but the issue is that when healthy, we already have two #6 guys playing (and they're both on the left side). I don't know about you, but I don't want three #6 defensemen.
None of the d-men from Worcester would be anything more then "okay" as a #6.
One thing to consider is that Vlasic has taken a few lumps the past few games. He took a hard slash on the arm against Calgary and was favoring it. So maybe there is a chance they are contemplating giving him a night off.

Ya, I mentioned this about a week ago and again after the TB game. I don't think he's 100% but I don't think he'll be coming out of the lineup either.
I don't think so either but hopefully we don't get any kind of horrible "Surprise Vlasic broke his wrist!" Holding him out of practice and let Doherty work with Johnson and Big Bird makes sense as well.
Nope
I'm guessing he's up because they want Tennyson to play games and they need a defenseman because Hannan is still hurt and they need an extra.

Sure, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Tennyson's skating if we had to play one of them.
Anyway, I'm sorry I over-reacted, but with how the Sharks' injury luck is going these days...
Yeah, even my casual fan friends are starting to notice something seems off about Vlasic. Would not be shocked if Vlasic were injured.
Alternatively, Doherty could be a warm body to replace Vlasic in practice drills.

“Just a switch,†McLellan said. “Both of them have played well — a reward for Taylor’s play in the minors, a chance for Matty Tennyson to get back into the lineup. We don’t like to have players sit for too long.â€
Sorry, I don't understand why anybody would be having a cow over Doherty being called up to play or not.
I don't even know if its possible to play any worse then Brad Stuart has been. I wonder if Stuart's problem is still related to the injury he had before the season started.
Short are the memories of Sharks's fans....
Recall Semenov, Murray, White, Fahey....
