I vote we lock this and move on with our lives?

I mean we're all on a hockey message boards talking about very unimportant things no matter the topic. You really want to "move on with your life," then we should shut down HF Boards altogether.

I will tell you the part that really rubbed me the wrong way in that MSG conference call. Up until the last few minutes, Tavares sounded emotional, although that was probably as much of an act as the last 9 years was. However, when the question about the Isles fans came up, his response started "I cant worry...," and then you can tell he thought better of what he was about to say. But clearly he was thinking I cannot worry about what Isles fans think. That is the way he thinks of us after nine years of cheering him. All the MVP chants, all the "John Tavares" chants, he cant worry about how we feel.
And from that point on, do you notice his voice changed, it became much more defiant. Especially during that part when he kept saying HE did the best he could, HE did all that he could, multiple times.

So the me mentality really came out. Not surprised that he's a selfish SOB.

The only interesting thing I have that came out of this is Dubas... Talk about a crazy story. You're gonna trust a 30-something year old guy as the GM of your team? I know he was great with the Greyhounds and the Marlies, but that's a crazy career trajectory.

Nepotism works wonders.

Shit, that was Kyle Dubas? I thought it was Tim Murray. :sarcasm:

I wouldn’t be surprised at all is there was some horseshyt JT video tribute at the Barc when JT returns. No one wants it, but marketing people are dumb and tone deaf, and would think it was a great idea.

Hope you guys learned a valuable lesson here. Never ever trust a players word. You want be an islander for life here is a contract that makes you an islander for life. You refuse to sign it then we'll we have to do what's best for the organization and trade you. Management got played by JT and his agent.

Only been saying this exact thing for a year now. Alarm bells should've gone off to everyone associated with the Isles on July 2, 2017.

He made his bed, he chose to lay in it. He could have easily handled this process where we'd have an unironic "John Tavares Appreciation Thread", and general sadness but eventual understanding. Instead he goes full Chidi Anagonye and lets his indecisiveness hurt nearly everybody in the world that gave a damn about him.

Literally made his bed.... with sheets and pillow cases...

Didn't Nordique fans pelt the ice with pacifiers when Lindros came in to Le Collese for the first time???

So what would you want to toss on the ice for this situation?

Lou has his hands on everything. He'll make sure Judas gets some shade. No video, just another statement on the JumboTron. Short, concise, and gets the message through.

'Thanks for everything John Taveres' - exactly that way.

Tavarse didn’t even answered the questions. He did just repeated the same old media trained bullshit over and over again. He had his aim set for the Leafs early - and he royally f***ed us by not asking for a trade nor telling the management about his plans. No respect for you, John.

Yeah well you know...If we didn't like have an almost AHL lineup, I love the idea.
Does not have to be this year. It just has to be before Toronto. Lou will get this thing straight and in the end the Islanders will be better off without the long term anchor of a contract.

I've been saying for years that Tavares is overrated. When you look at his skills and realize he's only had two great years there's a simple explanation, he's fairly dumb. Yes he looks dumb thanks to the robotic cliche-filled interviews and the goofy Canadian accent (Hoe's it goin, eh?), but it's more than that. He can't think. Look at him in his childhood sleeping picture - mouth agape with the same low IQ mouth breathing face he has today . Look at the model airplane on his pillow. Too dumb to figure out how to remove the plane from the pillow, so he just slid down the bed instead .

His interviews yesterday we're way over his head and I don't think he understood that people were mad at him for the way he handled things and not for just switching teams. He's a hard worker, but lacks the smarts to take it to the next level. Maybe now that he isn't the leader of the team he'll do better when someone else does the thinking for him.

Tell me the guy on the left in the video isn't Tavares. He looks like him and sounds like him. Put a 91 Jersey on him and you'd think it was him.

It's speculation, for sure. I just think he's pissed. It explains why he held onto his decision for the last moment. I don't think for a moment he intended to resign with NYI. I suspect spite.

I think he wanted to have all of the news break and then sign on Canada Day.

He said it came down to the Isles and Leafs, but going into Saturday night every team was reportedly “still in it”.

JT kept this under wraps to save the day on a national holiday. Selfish move if you ask me.
