Long gone are the debates over whether 42 or 43 are the 1C.

My how far we have come

Matthews vs Tavares. Now that’s a legitimate debate.

Tut, tut, Pookie...We're rolling Tavares/Matthews/Kadri...Now the debate is, which other team rolls out a 3C near Kadri?

My OH my, how far we have come and best yet?

How far we get to go with this group.

I like your use of the word interesting, Nithoniniel. Has the sense of an imminent avalanche upon arrogant mountain climbers about it. :naughty:

What's worse (for them) what happens when we put any of that against a 4th line? Ouch.

Hyman Matthews Nylander
Johnsson Tavares Marner
Marleau Kadri Kapanen

So happy right now! The Shannyplan is real! After the 04-05 lockout the Leafs were left with the oldest team in the league and a near non-existant prospect pool (hf near bottom team ranking). Old talent kept us in the 9-10 eastern conference spot, and poor management refused to rebuild. GM, after GM. Coach after coach. Unbelievably bad goaltending (raycroft, toskala, Gustavsson, Giguire). Big, slow, D-Men kept us well into the bottom half of GAA. Crazy trades like Rask and Kessel. Even our much coveted pick Luke Schenn didn't pan out (hoping for a true #1 d-man and captain). For much of the fan base it was downright brutal ten or so years. Really have to appreciate what Brendan Shanahan has done here and for the fans sticking through the process. Can't wait for pre-season to get a glimpse of what this team can do.

My crow just finished cooking in the oven. Ready to dig in. Two summers in a row and two of the most prized free agents selected us... Marleau and today Tavares. Things are turning around.

Don’t forget about the country boy Babtrash. Even though he is not that great he was still considered the best in the FA.

That’s a very nice caphit, gives thebaleafs an extra million in cap wriggle room to get the big three signed (Matthews likely gets the same too).

Awesome day to be a Leafs fan!

To all my posters that have been around through the dark days... how sweet it is to have such a squad today. Take a moment to smile and appreciate how far we have come!

Want another thought on top of it?

Think of how young our group is and how far we get to go along with them.

Boys...We're at the beginning of something...Well...Y'all know.

Happy Canada Day, Leafs Nation.

Unreal. Cant believe we have jt. Best centre depth in the league. Team looks like a roster you make in nhl18. Be very difficult to sign all the key guys. One of the kids might have to go now.

JT gave his best effort to the Islanders for 9 years. islanders fans should be grateful
I still feel for them. They're hurting right now.

Now, having said the above, it's the NYI management/ownership that failed to surround Tavares with quailty players, just like our management wasted all of Sundin's best years!

Islander fans should be angered by their own teams failures to build around John. Only 6 years was their other mistake! It's not John's fault one iota!
