Nope, Tavares isn't being traded and neither is Matthews. The only hope Toronto would have is if Tavares walks in free agency, and I imagine Islander management will do anything to keep him around.

JT is in his 8th season already . Easy yes for me and I think JT is a superstar .
TML 1st round pick will be a lottery pick in 17 whether they make this deal,or not.

With The Way The Islanders run its organization why would Tavares want to stay? Yes, Islanders have a new owner but the same GM and a to a degree a Coach Left By now Minority owner Wang and The Man Who Killed The Islanders for 15 or more Years Mad Mike Milbury! very true, I don't think many TO fans are thinking of this.

TO should take this and run, they'd get Tavares until he retires vs Matthews for 7 years. Plus by the time McDavid can come play for TO, Tavares will have declined enough to be a good 2c behind McJesus.

So let me get this straight we trade a 19 year old centre who is cost controlled on an ELC who projects to be every bit a player of JT caliber but likely a better skater, very likely a lottery pick 1st this year, a 2018 second for a 27 year old JT who while a fantastic player likely get close to 10 million per after 2018. Where do I sign!!!!!

Look I have no idea who Quine or Pelech are but none seem to stand out as recent top pick from Isles.
