Some really interesting answers, Kadris maturity/temper? JT's board work, JT coming off the books in a couple of seasons. Kadri was mature enough to win a cup in Colorado but why not in Toronto? Kadris contract? JT's cap hit?

I think it comes down to what you covet more cap room or points? Passion or calm cool emotionless leadership?

His comments after winning the cup clearly shows he lacks maturity and the ability to take responsibility for his actions.

Winning a Cup doesn’t make you a good person just someone who won a cup.

Shanahan said:
2015: There’s more to this, obviously,” Shanahan told reporters. “If this were a case of Naz being 15 minutes late to a meeting, one time, yes, you could probably sweep this under the rug and handle this internally … [but] we expect a certain amount of professionalism, it’s time for him to start making better decisions. There’s a history here.

“There comes a point in the careers of many hockey players … where you have to grow up. Naz is 24. This is not something where we thought it would benefit him to sweep it under the rug. He understands our decision and how serious we are about him taking the next step and incidents like this won’t be tolerated.”[\quote]
Naz didn’t grow up, was removed from the team, and blamed mgmt for it, including after the cup. Clearly he doesn’t see himself as responsible for his own actions, so no, he hasn’t grown up yet.

Tavares is definitely the better player. Not sure if he’s 4 million dollars better but he’s definitely the better player.

The problem with Naz is he should not have been the one taking care of the physicality in the playoffs, he should have been doing what he did with the Avs last year. The Leafs roster is soft and gets pushed around effortlessly, Naz was the only one to have the guts to stand up and unfortunately he did it in bonehead fashion.

Sadly he was alone on an island trying to get the rest of the team to give a shit. It's a shame cause he was a home grown talent who loved playing in T.O., he should have retired a Leaf.

Exactly.

He was fine when he was playing with Komarov, because Leo knew how to be the agitator/physical player properly. It was only after they got separated that Naz had to take on a role not suited to his temperament.

So the management was responsible for his dumb actions? Same in Colorado? Is it Sakic's fault he got suspended there?

I'm a fan of both players, but as another poster here mentioned awhile ago, I think getting traded was a bit of a wakeup call for him in terms of his NHL career. I'm not confident he would have achieved in Toronto what he went on to achieve in Colorado, but that talent was always just beneath the surface.

My preference is Tavares, who plays a more traditional game as a center and was thought of well enough to get a "C" stapled to his sweater. Tavares obviously has his own shortcomings and Kadri looked like the better player last year. I still hated that Barrie trade when it happened.
