Speculation: Tavares landing spot?

JT just said.
He has made his money (career earnings 111 million before endorsements. So what 130?)

If he gets 5 million a year I think hes happy.

He said he wants to be back. Doesn’t want to leave and he has already talked to management and is optimistic

Treliving is an idiot. Tavares ends up in Detroit. 8 mil x 4 years. Wings pass the Leafs in the standings.

This ends with Tavares returning to the leafs on a longer-term deal to keep AAV down. Similar to the Tanev deal.
Treliving needs to get JT signed before the offers come on July 1. If JT gets to July 1 he’s looking at 30 million. Leafs would be happy with 24.

Exact quote please. Otherwise he didn’t say that.

He was Tyler Seguin level bad for the leafs in the playoffs

31 pts in 51 games works out to 50 pts per 82

Tyler Seguin, whose maybe the worst playoff performer for a player who was top 10 pt producer for a 5+ year stretch is a 46 pt per 82 playoff performer for the Stars for his career with them

He said that?

I don't know about the made his money part.

But yes he did say during his exit interview that he's spoken to management specifically Berube and Treliving and he's very optimistic he's coming back.

He all but confirmed he's staying

Also Chris Johnston was on overdrive and said his salary will be cut in half or more.

That means he's at 5.5 million and probably less.

He's coming back by the sounds of it.

Again, you should thank us, you went further than us and Tavares looked awful in the playoffs his entire tenure.

Marner refused a trade for Rantanen and was worse than Tavares on the Island.

Bottom line, you should be thankful we took your trash because that is what Tavares was in his TO tenure.

Marner refusing a trade was within his rights and his wife was about to give birth. Noone should be criticizing a man who said no being traded less then 4 weeks from the birth of his child.

I can see them giving years and a NMC.

5 million for 5 years. Gets 25 million and plays 34 to 39 in a leaf sweater?

He had 2 goals and 0 assists in his last 9 playoff games.

His season production is a total mirage and entirely irrelevant.

If anybody is brain dead enough to offer Tavares that sort of money, have fun with him.

One of the worst post season performers ever relative to his contract/talent level/team talent level.

I could see something close to that yeah.

Maybe 4 years instead of 5.

Maybe you get the extra year if It's 4.5 million instead of 5.

But it wouldn't surprise me if it was 5X5
Get real. It’s a rising cap, Tavares is a really good 2C. He’s getting 30 mil July 1. Leafs will need to go 6 mil x 4 years to keep him. And that’s a friggin’ bargain.

Otttawa makes the most sense BUT Montreal might be the most aggressive Canadian team. Don’t count out the Canucks though.

He bleeds blue. He really does, so the Sens and Habs might not be at the top of his list. For whatever reason though, maybe it’s the border, Leafs have gone to Detroit and never really played the rivalry angle. Maybe because Fetroit was always so much better in most cases.

He can play in Detroit or Buffalo and not have to worry about moving, if he wants the family to remain untouched. The Canucks need a 2/3C as well, and it just smells like something they’d do.

Outside chance? Florida if Bennett takes the money somewhere. To replace Bennet, who may likely replace Tavares in Toronto.

So Detroit if he wants to stay close to home, Vancouver if it’s about the contract, or Florida if he wants to win and Bennett leaves..

I’ll go Florida, Detroit, Vancouver, Colorado and Washington. In that order…
