This trade was absolute debacle for TB

Jeannot is terrible and isn't even a good 4th liner at this point

Giving away a 1st + 2nd + 3rd + 4th + 5th for him has to be one of the worst and most lopsided trades in recent NHL history

What the hell was TB GM thinking with this trade?

Despite Hagel being great for them giving up those 1st's + this trade really set up TB to have very little in cupboards going forward just as there window appears to be closing or maybe even already has closed

Look st TB draft history.

1998 LeCav and brad Richard's
1999-2007 nothing of note
2007 theh get Killorn
2008-2009 Stsmkos/Hedman
2010 gudas, connolly
2011 Kucherov, Palatine, namesrikov
2013 drouin
2014 Point
2015 Cerelli

Historically they have been poor at drafting

They have had some decent drafts recently but they traded those players

If you get those high pickd you really need to be successful in drafting mid rounds.

If you add Vasilevskiy, there are 4 Hall of Famers on that list. Possibly 5.

What an amazing draft list. No wonder they won cups

you draft s bunch of high picks it correlates to winning a cup.
Two of those picks were high and one of them played one shift on the way to the 1st cup.

I would put our drafting in the Yzerman era against anyone. Kucherov in the 2nd round, Point in the 3rd, Palat in the 7th. And those three guys formed a line that was the biggest factor in two Stanley Cups.

Having so many picks hit (including later ones) probably enabled JBB to trade first round picks for Woodrow and Coleman.

"The Jeannot trade is the worst in history"

I mean, at the time we were a juggernaut. Those guys made us ridiculous. In both cases, it seemed like JBB was paying for the contract even more than the player, which was smart. We stayed under the cap while adding good players.

But the core of the team, and the major reasons we won, all came through the draft. McDonagh was probably the exception moreso than Goodrow or Coleman, but those guys were great additions.

*Proceeds to list some of the greatest players of the last 10 years and potentially 5 HHOFers*

GAWD DAMN KING!!!!
It's 5 potential Hall of Famers in the Stamkos era alone. 4 locks + Point, who's a longer shot, but isn't too far off.

Can’t wait to see Edmonton, sens, leaf’s, ducks, red wings, coyotes, devils and Buffalo win the cup.

Yup, the team was already stacked but acquiring those tow and pairing them with Gourde gave you guys three solid lines which goes a long way in the playoffs.

4th line was no slouch either, really. Cedric Paquette might have physically sacrificed the rest of his career away in 2020.
