Something 'that' egregious should be 8-10 games...should.

With the Department of Random Safety... maybe, 2-3.

That's basically the Richards-Booth hit, which the league had made pretty clear they want out of the game.

If they were at all serious this would be an easy 10+ game suspension. I'll be surprised if it gets 5.
IMO the Richards - Booth hit was much more vicious.

Clean hit.

Brock makes a pass and then DRAGS HIS SOFA into the middle of a busy highway so he can relax and watch his it slide down the ice. OPENS a bag of CHIPS and gets through about HALF of it before, INEVITABLY, a passing truck RUNS right through his pop-up LIVING ROOM.

So you admit that enough time passes between the pass and the hit for someone to eat half a bag of chips. But you think the hit is clean? You do know late hits are against the rules, right?

One of the worst posts I've ever read,

This is the type of hit that the NHL has been trying to stamp out of the game for a decade now. I am about the farthest thing you can be from a Canucks fan, but even with my bias against them this can't happen.

This is the kind of thing that lost Sid part of his career. NHL needs to protect it's stars.

Throw the book at this bum !

I would guess he'll get about 3 games though - should be 10

Give him the Raffi Torres treatment and he probably won't do it again. Or don't. Either way.

I am a Kings fan but that is worth 3 to 5 games. It was late and targeted the head from a blindside position. The only thing he didn’t do was leave his feet.

No idea what was going through his head there. He has not been a very good player this year.

probably shouldn't be admiring your pass going east-west across the neutral zone but i think 5 and a game is probably the right call

it's a little late, a little high, a little not enough chest contact.. adds up to that

Slow motion may make it look like he was admiring his pass, realtime not so much.

East-west, mostly contacts head. This should be a couple games. If the NHL actually wanted to protect player's brains it would start at 5 games.

1 game max, don’t see it as late, hit his shoulder with first contact, but definitely blindside .

Wtf are you on about mate? That's some weird take.

In the last 5 seasons they've had a few that could really fight and that's not naming some that were just physical players: They've had MacEwan, Joshua, Desharnais, Roussel, Schenn, Myers, Lafferty, etc.
Schenn is th only one tough in that group.

Blindside? Yep. Headshot? Yep? A tad too late to be called "finishing his hit"? Yep.

Guaranteed suspension. The only question is how long. 3 games? 5 games? 7 games is a stretch. This is a textbook headshot, if they want to be serious about headshots, they need to throw the book at him a little bit. More than a 1 or 2 gamer here.

If it is a phone hearing, so that is correct.

What have similar hits resulted in? (I don't believe Jeannot has had a hearing before, so have to factor that in vs a Tom Wilson on Sundqvist).
It’s just disappointing. This hit is on the same level as the Wilson on Sundqvist hit but he probably only gets 2 games because of his lack of history.

That's how NHL has always handled it. Aside from Wilson, who else has been suspended for a similar type hit?

Blindside hits are legal.

This hit was illegal because the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable

I'm normally not to quick to call out these hits that happen in real time, but this is just plain dirty. Clearly leans the shoulder into the head and purposely trying catch a guy who's not suspecting the hit.

Lateness is debatable imo

Blindside for sure

Can’t tell what the principal or initial points of contact are, but for the sake of argument I’ll just call it a headshot

That’s gotta be a few games minimum.
