I think it's more that players are not used to getting hit after the give up the puck. This isn't the 80s or 90s when you finished checks for attrition. That's largely out of the game.

No surprise Boeser was not expecting a late hit that provided 0 value towards getting the puck
That was within the checking window, it's like half a second. The issue was the hit being to the head, it wasn't too late.

And also, people say stuff like "Boeser keeps getting unlucky with injuries" but if he's admiring his passes like this all the time without watching his surroundings, I'd say that it's probably not luck.

And even if he was "admiring his pass", how in the everloving f*** would it be his fault that some idiot goon blindsides him in the head? This mentality is just so stupid.

Canucks sweep cali road trip. Overshadowed by a head shot on Prince Charming. Hope it’s not as bad as it looked!
