I'm kind of curious of how bad at faceoffs can you be to be a full time center. I think that's a big factor for Buchnevich. In looking this up, I realized that Barzal is horrifically bad at them, to the point where they go out of their way for him to not take faceoffs. Zegras and Chytil also are very bad at them, Beniers and Thompson. Eichel is bad at them, but shown some improvement in recent years. MacKinnon sucks at them.

Most of those guys are either more 3rd line guys or young guys, Barzal, the Islanders hide, but Eichel and MacKinnon give me a bit more hope of Buch successfully moving to center. If Buch can just get to 45% for faceoffs, and maintain his offensive production, then moving to center is a good move. Most good top 6 centers are also good at faceoffs, but there are some exceptions.

Thomas has become very good at them, so if we can get a good defensive center that is good at faceoffs, we'd probably have enough guys to handle key situations and Buch would be good enough for normal play. And if we won the lotto, I can't think of a more ideal situation to put Bedard for Fantilli with to help with their development.

2-15-4 is crazy, even for a team like ours. We have a 99.5 point pace with him out of the lineup.

What's even more wild, when he gets more ice time, we win. In his 3 highest ice time games, we are 2-1-0.

McDavid was sub 44% for his first 3 NHL seasons, and sub 50% for the next 3 seasons. It's only this year and last that he's been over 50% on the dot... Give me a reasonable argument that McDavid isn't a legitimate full time NHL center.

MacKinnon, RNH, early Stamkos, early Thomas, early Backes... It's fairly common for 1st round centers to take a few years to adjust to winning near 50% of their draws - Crosby, Barkov and Seguin being exceptions to that, caviat with Seguin being he didn't take many draws until he was traded to DAL.
