Looking at that whole third line, I'd trade the whole line to a contender as an intact "Identity Line" at 3.9M (retain 50% on Barbashev) and take back whatever cap dump is needed.

More realistically I see them keeping Blais and moving him in a future deadline after he plays well for us ...

That line really looks like the type of 4th line that turns a series from a loss to a win on the way to a Cup. You can pencil that line in for 8 hits a night, it's got a good faceoff guy, there is some defensive responsibility and there is enough skill to be an actual threat to score.

Most good teams already have a 4th liner or two that they like, but that would absolutely be a miserable 4th line to go against every 5th or 6th shift between dealing with a contending-caliber top 9.

Montgomery and Cassidy probably see the value in it as well. I don't think it will really happen but it's no accident those three UFA players are being put together during this final showcase. It's an attempt to underline their value. Acciari's been great all year and Barbashev is playing his best hockey right now, and Blais is pumped and motivated to be back in STL.

You're not tanking hard enough for Bedard so how about winning games to increase trade value? Or has winning something reverted back to an alien concept for us?

You're not tanking hard enough for Bedard so how about winning games to increase trade value? Or has winning something reverted back to an alien concept for us?

I don't believe winning games actually increases trade value, I think GM's iso on the guys they want and their individual games rather than the team results.

For me personally winning is getting the highest possible pick. Rn that means losing every game possible and collecting extra picks through trading UFA's. A trade up scenario, though comparatively rare, may materialize and we look to be in an excellent position to have the best offer of any team for that type of move.
