They're not close to being in tank territory. Something significant is needed but they have too many good players in their prime or entering their prime too blow it all up over a bad start. You can fire a coach or make a shake-up trade or whatever, but taking isn't it.

You'd have to give away a substantial portion of the team to put yourself in legitimate contention for the top pick. I mean even on a bad team, a Shesterkin hot streak can grab you 15 points from 20 games or whatever.

Depending on what you can get for SHesterkin you have to consider it. He won't be worth resigning for 8 mil anyways

Drury's not going anywhere. He's the next Sather. He'll be here through hell and high water. Whether we do well, whether we do shittily, he's going to be here for the next 15 years.


But let's see Drury's track record so far:

He gave away our top-6 RW in Buchnevich for a f***ing pretzel

He signed a bottom-six guy in Goodrow to an insane longterm deal

He traded for an enforcer and subsequently extended him only to trade him a few days ago

He signed a big oaf on defense in Nemeth only to dump him in Arizona along with our draft picks.

He signed a dinosaur fossil to be our backup G and gave him a NMC

And the four players he acquired at the Deadline for valuable draft commodities are all gone because he wanted to sign an injury-prone, lazy Vinny Trocheck.



So praytell, why should I have ANY faith in Drury turning this team around? He inherited a core of Panarin, Igor,Fox, Zibanjead, Kreider, two top-2 picks, Trouba, K'Andre, Schneider, and he's done nothing to improve this team. NOTHING. HE f***ING STARTED ON SECOND/THIRD BASE AND HE RAN BACKWARDS.

Not to mention that it will be really hard to sell players right now. Most teams are feeling a cap crunch due to the flat cap of the last few years. Good luck unloading players of value right now. Not the market environment for a rebuild.

Ohh and most of the players we'd want to move have NTC/NMCs

If you didn’t have a small core of brilliance I’d agree. But we have a young Norris and a young Vezina winner. It’s not skill, it’s will. Most of our top 6 can’t seem to be arsed skating for a full game and when coupled with some truly bizarre coaching you get this mid-table mediocrity that is the current season.

I really believe what my wife (a Canuck diehard) said late in the third v Edm “you guys need to scratch some of your top line for a few games to send a f@cking clear message that this sh@t won’t stand and that’s on your coach to do….and that’s my 2 cents”
