I'm an optimist, so if the team continues to put up a fight--and win--these next three games before the TDL, I'm off team tank. Three tough games on the docket, but our schedule post-TDL is slightly more favorable compared to the teams we're chasing. CAL with a tough game tonight at TBL, and VAN on a back-to-back in ANA. UTA at home against MIN.

I think they’ll make a run at it and miss the playoffs by 2-3 points. A lot of folks here will grumble that they sabotaged a potential higher draft pick.

Vancouver beating LA last night certainly increases the degree of difficulty. That puts them 5 points ahead with a game in hand while Calgary is 4 points ahead with 2 games in hand.

The trade deadline decision has been made already. Armstrong will try to sell. All of his public comments and the rumors corroborate that.

They COULD still make the playoffs, but it wouldn’t be the first time they make it after he sells.

If Army gets a deal that is too good to pass up today, then I'm sure he takes it. But unless/until that deal actually happens, the team can change his mind with their play.

While very unlikely, we could be sitting in playoff position Sunday night. If this team goes 5-0-1 out of the 4 Nations break while Vancouver and Calgary simultaneously stumble, the price it would take for Army to sell is going to increase. Especially since the higher value assets we have aren't going UFA at the end of the year.

I don't think this team will change his mind, but there is absolutely a scenario where they play well enough (and other teams don't) where Army turns down a deal he was thinking about taking.

If we play well enough over the next week I think it could sway him. The return for our rentals isn’t going to be big enough that it would hurt to miss out, and anyone else he wants to move can happen this summer.

Vancouver and Calgary each have two games in hand and the Blues will not catch them in games played until the last two weeks of the regular season.

A tough hill to climb.

If the Ducks hold on, they'll be just 6 points out of a wild card spot.

Is that shocking to anyone else?

Edit: Ducks win! Blues end the night 3 points out of a playoff spot. Canucks sit in the 8th spot with just 1 game at hand on STL.
