I think the more likely scenario is that Toronto and Ottawa meet in the first round because Ottawa ends up in a wildcard spot. That'd would be a good series.

It certainly can seem like whining.
But these people do get minutes, don't give much offense, and are catastrophic in terms of giving up scoring chances. Holmberg perhaps not so bad defensevley, but my god the others are cover your eyes time.

Domi has 11 points in the last 17 games. He's top quartile in league scoring over that time.
Myers is our #8 dman... I mean, what do we expect out of a #8 dman, do others have better #8's? He's been given a shot to see what he can do, and really, he's been an "ok" #8... Replacement level player, at league minimum... everyone has one.
Holmberg is a healthy scratch in a healthy lineup. He's a fill in.
Rielly is certainly having a bad year, but it's no reason to have a meltdown.

But when we complain as much as is going on, without context... it's kind of funny to sit back and watch. You read this forum, and you'd conclude we are a terrible team. You don't get all star players in every spot in the lineup.

The way I see it, they should be trying all these things in season so I have zero issue with putting McCabe with Rielly.

We know McCabe and Tanev work together and they can be put together when needed, I think exploring other combos is smart business.

Saw it with OEL and now we are primed to do it to McCabe.

The experiment stinks. Grab a solid RHD like Murphy and give Rielly a solid and consistent defensive partner to finally end the carousel he’s had in his time here.

Enough bandaids. We’ve seen this show too long.

Fair enough as long as the endgame isn’t to just keep a patchwork system in place.

This team needs a 2RHD and Treliving is just the guy to get it done. We can’t keep plugging LHD, Hakanpaa is broken and you cannot count on Myers and Timmins in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, because Tampa is prone to some pretty bad defensive and goaltending lapses (especially with the AHL guy they have in net tonight), Tampa is a team the Leafs can beat by only playing 20 minutes. I think the game on Saturday against Ottawa will be a better test for the Leafs.

I thought Berube was going the right way with Rielly down to 16 minutes, get him down to 12ish and shelter him as much as possible, I don't know why you break up one of the best defensive duos in the league to find him another babysitter, he's going to slaughter whoever he's playing with at this point.

Tampa is as much of a threat to the Leafs as Columbus is. That will be another barn-burner game this week. I'd like to get these next two games out of the way and focus on the Ottawa game on Saturday. That should be a good one.
