I think both Thompson and Dahlin would be in for a massive culture shock if they were traded to a team with any expectations of success, but I wouldn't have the same worry for Tuch.

IDK - Dahlin has shown the ability to fit into a championship contender back in his Frolunda days. I have no concerns with him and what he play would be.

Most players the Sabres dealt that were considered losers have gone on to play important roles in championship contending teams... Reinhart, Eichel, Rodrigues. I doubt Dahlin and Thompson would be any different

GMs think he can be a #1 Center - ok. Some also think he tops out as a 3rd line guy. I think Geekie becomes a good second line guy - 55-65 points, strong two way play. Do I think he, this year or next year, becomes that if he is traded to the Sabres? I do not. The entire point was when you posed Geekie and a second for Tuch, and said that it would make the Sabres a better team now or in the near future. I don't think that is the case. Tuch is a confirmed top 6 winger (closer to top line, but some people may disagree, those people probably watch just a few Sabres games though by your logic), makes pennies for his production, and wears an A for his hometown team.

Geekie is a good young player, but to sit here and say he WILL be better than Tuch because "you have no idea how good Geekie can become" and "you watch a few Lightning games so you know nothing" is just stupid.

Just to say. I feel like trading Tuch isn't the direction Buffalo should take, but if they do, it needs to be an overpay (like here, basically 3 firsts for 1.5 yrs of Tuch doesn't sound too bad does it?)

That would be my ball park estimate. 3 x midlevel 1sts for Tuch at 50%. Possibly a small premium if the acquisition was entirely futures.

I just don't see this unless Tampa is going to make a roster player available they wouldn't, or they include Howard.

In fact it's not a drop off at all when you consider he has more goals this season. Not hating on Tuch, would love to have him, but let's be real. Cirelli for Tuch would be highway robbery for Buffalo. Putting a first on top of him is absolutely ridiculous. It's about as realistic to say that the Lightning could get Tage Thompson for Cirelli and a first as it is for Buffalo to get Cirelli and a first for Tuch.

Tuch is actually very good. His offensive impact surpasses his point totals. Would be worth it for Tampa.

Me saying you don't know what his ceiling is doesn't equate to me saying he's going to be better than Tuch, nice logic. It means exactly what I said, that we don't know, that is it, none of the other stuff you've injected into the conversation.

I've watched thousands of Lightning games, and it doesn't give me an edge in forecasting how good or bad he's going to be after watching him play half a season on the third line. That's my point genius, just because you have watched him play, doesn't give you some special inside knowledge and foresight in making deterministic statements about how good he will be, as you were trying to tout.

Yeah, but let's not forget he's had Selke votes every season he's played other than his rookie year in which he only played 18 games. And three years ago Cirelli missed 24 games and Tuch had a career year scoring wise, so kind of an unfair inclusion because that's really the difference. In the last two seasons Tuch has 40 goals and Cirelli has 39.

I think it's like some analysts have said, Adams cares more about the individual players than the team they comprise. I don't think they actually care about fan favorites or whatever seeing as they've dealt most of them. But that's just my outside opinion
