I'd be curious as a Ducks fan. But I also don't follow drafts as much as many here so the drop off between 3 and 11 could be more significant than I imagine. I do like Cernak and feel he's the type of player PV wants to add. I'd be curious if there was a deal with Cernak without the 3oa pick. Though Helenius seems like a PV type of player to me and still fills an organization need as a RS forward. This is where I struggle, how much chance does the 3oa have of being a star or bona fide top liner/pair guy vs the 11 oa guy in this draft?

I would also add that this might not be the draft year to be lusting after the #3 pick, anyway. Last year, sure. 2024 has one sure thing, then a bunch of talented players with warts.

Cernak has a NTC, and is only one year into a 8 year contract. Buyer's remorse in TB?

That is a best-case scenario for the Lightning if that is what they want. But was bringing back McDonagh done with the idea that they are going to just trade away two Cup pieces shortly thereafter?

Not too sure.

Both are on long contracts which have negative value because much of it is st 30+. It be different if they were U23

In a vacuum, Cirelli and Cernak are quality players smack in their primes. Good support pieces. But they haven’t exactly taken that step to be core players, and their contracts aren’t doing them any favors, especially Cirelli’s.

You’re not moving up to #3 from scratch without giving up an absolute core piece or core blue chip prospect. This is a clever way to get the Lightning a building block top level prospect and freeing up financial flexibility by offloading a combined 14 years of contract commitment…but it’s not realistic.

You'd probably need something like Sergachev and Cirelli sent directly to Anaheim, and even then Sergachev would run into the same problem of too many LD that he has in Tampa.

No reason to complicate with three teams. Just send Tanner Jeanott to the Ducks for 3 overall. He’s clearly worth it.

Is it just me or everytime there’s a trade involving Anaheim it’s them getting absolutely ripped off.

They already have to deal with all the Zegras trade proposals for peanuts and now this.

Man leave them alone.

First trade:

:bolts : Anthony Cirelli

:sabres: 11th overall and Peyton Krebs

Second trade:

:bolts: 11th overall and Erik Cernak

:ducks: 3rd overall

Tampa then drafts either Levshunov or Silayev and clears out 12m in cap space to bring back Stamkos and sign some free agents

Looking more and more like he won't be available at 3OA.
Very possible he goes to Chicago. I think it would be a smart move for Chicago to take him over Demidov as they would be building around a small team.
