Hmm? Do you think that Drouin is there because of pro scouting?
I think you're crazy if you don't think the pro scouts signed off on him.

Like I said, pro scouting is a judgement call profession just like amateur scouting. Nobody is going to nail it every time. I can forgive a miss or two.

Steinburg it was a textbook charge, jumped into it to hit Cernak high, and the head was the primary point of contract. That's about as cut and dry as you can get. I don't scream for suspensions much, but that is one that clearly deserves a game or two.
Lol, that's a terrible assessment. The head hit the board as a result of whiplash. Steinburg himself didn't make forceful contact to the head. The majority of the contact was to the body. He never gets his elbows or anything remotely to the head area.

If this is forceful contact to the head then where's the f***ing consistency? Over the last 3 sessions I've seen at least 10 Avs players take direct shots to the head without a peep from the league. It's always some excuse as to why that isn't a suspension.

Most notably the headshot 29 took from Trouba few years back. Direct hit to the head on 29, oh he skated into it, doesn't count, that's BS. But Steinburg who didn't make any direct head contact, they only thing he is guilty of is leaving his feet, is going to get a suspension. That's trash. Flying elbows to the head totally fine, launching your butt into someone's torso suspension. The DoPS is a joke.

Steinburg's shoulder directly hits Cernak's head. Because Steinburg jumped into the hit, the head became the primary and intial point of contact too. In the NHL, a hit to the head is not illegal if it is not the primary point of contact. In this case, the shoulder hits Cernak's head as the primary point of contact and the only reason that contact happens is because Steinburg jumped. This isn't a 5 game sort of thing, but clearly 5 and a game was super easy and supplemental is clear too. It should be a game or two.

If Steinburg doesn't jump, the hit is shoulder to chest and at very worst a 2 minute charge... though it probably wouldn't have been called.

Even your grandma would have said yes if Mack would have asked to have his buddy on the team for 1 year league minimum. No pro scouting opinion needed there.

And there lies the problem: Do you believe that this team will ever be healthy enough to compete for the brig price again....?

This is turning into another season of one man in, one man out........ And Bednar playing our big guns into the ground just to make the playoffs (and yeah, i do think this team with one injury after another is not a lock for the big dance).
Do I think we will ever be fully healthy? I don't know. I don't have a crystal ball.

But what is unusual is to have so many players who play the same position or similar type of game as each other being out.

Aside from Rants we basically have no top 9 wingers right now. And rants is rants. Usually the injuries are spread out across different disciplines more so they are easier to cover up

The good thing here is wingers are the easiest one to cover up. First of all there more wingers than anything in a roster and secondarily converting a player to winger is the easiest convert.

But this doesn't make the situation all that easy anyway.

I didn’t watch the 3rd, but from what I did watch I thought Kahkonen got better as the game went along once he got past the nerves and the team in front of him started playing better. But I still don’t understand what in the actual f*** possessed Bednar to throw him in for his first start against a really good Tampa team when we’re missing 2 full forward lines. I would have questioned that move if we were fully healthy but playing him last night was insanity. He should have played Saturday against Nashville

Hence, why I said they really threw him into the deep end and I don't think you should make too much of a judgement based on that (well, making that based on 1 game regardless would be stupid). He hasn't had that much time with the team between the immigration issues and spending time with the Eagles. Starting against a poor team with a good lineup would've still been an adjstment with the system etc. Tampa with that lineup was hard-mode.

The fact that he didn't even dress Annunen but had Georgiev over there is really starting to make me annoyed and suspicious that Bednar really does have a preference towards Georgiev, and is willing to die on that hill. Parkkila already said it between the lines that he would've thrown in Annunen earlier this year but Bednar wanted to go with Georgiev.

If I was CMac, I would give Georgiev the Samsonov treatment. Give him some time off from the team. Like I've said in other threads, it's very likely Georgiev will get another chance with the Avs, but it should not be in the next few weeks (unless Kähkönen or Annunen get injured).

Waive George, give him all the time he needs with Francouz or something, play some games with the Eagles if he wants to, whatever. He will get another shot eventually.

That really should have been Juice’s game, he’s been playing great. I just don’t understand why he keeps going back to George.

Depends on the miss.

Picking up a #6-8 Dman for less than a million and it panning out isn't quite the same as suggesting RyJo be our #2C.

He says that, but his actions scream louder. Dude has punted on guys like Greer who do the same thing and are more naturally talented.
I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the game last night as I was on the phone with my old man. I think Bednar was making that response about the hit on Grigs not the one he's getting suspended for.
