Well, not in the next game at least I guess

What a joke. 5 and game fine whatever. But come this is a joke.

I've seen countless Avs players take shots to the head and not even a remote look by the league. Our guy launches his ass into the mid section and is probably going to get suspended. This league is a joke when it comes to player safety. There is absolutely no consistency.

The correct call... that was a brutal hit. I get he's trying to make a name for himself, but simply can't do what he did there.
Come on you don't have to play the look at me I'm unbiased game, it was a 5 and game type hit. That's it. Avs players have taken far worse hits than that with not a peep from the league.

Steinburg it was a textbook charge, jumped into it to hit Cernak high, and the head was the primary point of contract. That's about as cut and dry as you can get. I don't scream for suspensions much, but that is one that clearly deserves a game or two.

Benn on Toews, Carter on Makar and Eberle on Cogliano are a few exemple of dirtier hit than this. This league is a joke.

The game has completely gone to shit if that hit gets a fine or suspension.

Completely clean, shoulder through the body hit.

I know I'm usually the guy who's on the opposite side of these things than you but I agree wholeheartedly. Leaving his feet was about the ONLY thing I could say was bad about that hit, but you can't tell me Stienburg is the only guy who does that shit. Hell, Michael Peca back in the day made a living leaving his feet to lay down hits, he was such a little guy he kinda had to. He earned the nickname "Captain Crunch" as a result.

Just utter horseshit, I cannot believe they're calling for a hearing ON TOP of the gate. They never do that for any other player.

Frankly the Wagner hit on McDonagh on that very same shift was far, far more egregious IMO than what Stienburg did. But honestly I thought Wagner was pretty decent too. He did the one thing I have been begging Bednar's bullshit PK system to do for years now, go after the puck mover and drill him into the f***ing boards. Lo and behold, easy clear!!!

I caught a quote from Bednar last night where he was saying something about living with the occasional penalty like that because it was easier to dial someone down a bit than try to dial someone up.

Maybe we need to pump the brakes a bit on the team right now. Half these dudes shouldn't even be on the team. We're missing 5 of our top wingers. This game was never going to be close. Bednar plays the bodies he has to play. Let's see how the team does when we're not missing basically all of our best two way players. Firing bednar now would be insanity, no coach is going to be able to make this bandaid crew play much better right now. Allow the reinforcements to return before casting judgement on anything.

Because the Colorado Eagles - with Nate and Cale! - couldn't beat the Tampa Bay Lightning?
No cause he has the same stupid shtick every game, overplay your superstars in the regular season so there is no gas come post season. He’s a stupid coach

What pisses me off is that we've had a relatively soft schedule to start the year, and have lost like 8 points simply because Bednar was stubborn with Georgiev. Tampa is a really good team and we are so banged up it's surreal, not going to be too pissed about this single game. What frustrates me is that we lost so many easy points early on, and now we are fielding half an AHL team and the schedule is getting tougher.

This has been completely oversold. There are 3 teams who are legit bad teams... San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago. All clearly bottom 5 teams. The other 8 games are not filled with world beating teams, but teams who are competitive and project competitive. There was formerly one team in that bottom group (Columbus) who has taken a noticeable step forward. Boston, Isles, Ottawa, Utah, and Seattle are teams who should all be in the playoff race. Vegas and Tampa are likely playoff teams. In any 11 game stretch this isn't that unusual of a mix. It is certainly far from the hardest stretch, but how 'soft' this grouping was extremely oversold.

The next 11 isn't that much different. Nashville twice... in that Boston group. Seattle and Tampa carry over. Philly is the bad team. Two great teams in Florida and Carolina. Then a grouping of the playoff race teams, but not great teams (LA, Washington, and Winnipeg). It is slightly tougher, but mostly in an exchange of a bad team for a great team and a bad team for a playoff race team.

I will admit, I was talking completely out of my ass and didn't even check it. I agree, more or less the same.

BUT, I will maintain that we threw points away by starting Georgiev in multiple games after that Vegas opener, when it was obvious Georgiev didn't have it. That's all on Bednar, and just on him. Well, I guess CMac could've just waived Georgiev to keep Bednar away from him.

Couldn’t we call up MacDonald and have him play forward? He’s done it before with the Avs. Not that it would make a difference but you know….

Plenty of the games are winnable and they should still have a chance to get things corrected. I said in the summer the start of the season should be a stretch to strive for .550 hockey until Nuke and Lehky can return. There are 6 games until the 15th (I don't think Nuke would return day 1)... that's basically 18-19 points with 10 in hand now. 4-1-1 or 3-1-2 is what they pretty much need to pull that off now. Possible, but they have to play a lot better.

Very curious how they play Nashville. It'll give a nice measuring stick to see where the Avs stand.

And there lies the problem: Do you believe that this team will ever be healthy enough to compete for the brig price again....?

This is turning into another season of one man in, one man out........ And Bednar playing our big guns into the ground just to make the playoffs (and yeah, i do think this team with one injury after another is not a lock for the big dance).
