Thought it would be fun to combine the best player's in Lightnings history onto one team. In their prime.

Vincent Lecavalier - Brad Richards - Martin St-Louis
Dave Andreychuk - Brad Bradley - Steve Stamkos
Fredrik Modin - Chris Gratton - Václav Prospal
Rob Zamuner - John Tucker - Ryan Malone

Dan Boyle - Pavel Kubina
Roman Hamrlík - Victor Hedman
Paul Ranger - Corey Sarich (Not sure about this 2 players)

Nikolai Khabibulin
Daren Puppa

Have I missed anyone? I guess this team would dominate in todays NHL?

I would have to add palat tyjo ciccarelli 77 points in 111 games bradley had 300 points in 328 games cullen had 105 points in 150 games fedotenko had 144 points in 313 games gagne 40 points in 63 games filppula had a great year mike johnson had 60 points in 92 games klima had 133 points in 189 games killer has 60 in 120 and that isnt bad for his age kontos 51 points in 66 games kuba and ohlund played great to me purcell has 203 points in 310 games think that is better than malones numbers recchi 45 points in 62 games stillman had 80 points in 81 games

Is others who had pretty good careers over 0.5 for time were here.

Is this based solely on their performances while with Tampa?

Because if is is any player that spent any time with Tampa and we get them now in their prime I would have to think Savard and Recchi would have to be considered.

No mention of Cory Stillman? He only played one season here but it was a big one, for both him and Tampa Bay.

I'll have to do this later although my roster would be VERY different. I'd pick some grinders. A lot of these look like All-Star rosters and I'm not sure they'd actually win every game despite the star power.

I'd like to see a long time fan do an all time WORST Lightning team. I have a few names to get it started: Alexandr Svitov, Alexandre Daigle, Andrej Meszaros I'm sure the rest will come later.

The mighty Andreas Karlsson maybe should be added but Torts used him in such a limited role that I'm not sure it would be fair to diss him. I think the hardest question is what terrible Bolt do we put in net?

I never actually SAW the 90's Lightning play (wasn't a fan yet and I only just know how much our best and worst players did) so right now I'm torn between Sean Burke, Marc Denis or Dan Ellis.

Going by stats maybe Dan Cloutier warrants discussion? My buddy says he was absolutely terrible.

If we are looking at goalies who at least played 50 games for us then two pops into my mind, JC Bergeron and Pat Jablonski, at least Jablonski was decent elsewhere but he had at least one really poor season with us.

Who's the coach, who are the assistant coaches, and who is the GM of the all-time team?

Here's mine:

Owner - Vinik (no doubt here)
GM - Feaster
Coach - Torts
Assistant coaches - Craig Ramsey, ...?

I think Yzerman is already our best GM in team history, but I'm of the opinion that Feaster was a pretty bad GM.

This isn't meant to honor the all time greats. I just wanted to pick through Lightning history and pick a roster I think would kick some serious ass. I can honestly say my one complaint was having Lecavalier as a LW but I'm not about to leave out Bradley. Klima over Selivanov was a tough call but I think he was the better player. I wanted to pick Renberg but I'd want my all time team to have some grit so guys like Gratton and Roy made the cut. I was surprised no one picked Sydor either.

I didn't add Andreychuk because he was over the hill by the time we got to him. I'm using these players for within the ages they were when they were on our team. This means Andy would already be 37 and I'd rather have some of these players over a 37 year old Andreychuk. Not a diss to the HOF'er I'm just doing it differently.

Slapshot you mention not picking Andreychuk because he was over the hill which I can understand but he spend 4 seasons with the team. You have Sydor who spent less then a year and a half here, he did help us get the cup but didn't spend enough time to be on an all time team. I'm no fan of Andreychuk either, I hate the fact they still call him the captain, he wasn't very good here but did enough to make an all time team but as a 4th line PP specialist.

Afanasenkov was one of my favorites back in the day and he spend a few years here but as much as I would want to put him on the team he didn't do enough while here to earn a spot. I went with who was the best while wearing a lightning jersey.

Sydor I chose because even though he was here for such little time, he was a great addition to the team. He had some bad nights here and there but we could more or less count on him when we needed him most. It was 10 years ago, but I don't recall any real bad games for him in the SCF as well. He was an overall good to very good defenseman (not just in his Lightning tenure) and to your point he wasn't with us long but that wasn't the criteria I used. I was just hoping for a team full of current or ex Lightning players that I think could be the BEST possible lineup in a real life situation. I gotta give Sydor a nod in that case. As for Andy, he will ALWAYS be the captain. I love Vinny Lecavalier but in 2006 until we traded him we heard Richards was the big "rah rah" voice in the locker room. Then it was Marty. You never heard anything big about Vinny's leadership or abilities as a captain just that he led in a do as I do fashion. That's not to say he wasn't a good captain (it's not like I was in the locker room) but when media and fans alike acknowledge the leadership of St. Louis and Richards moreso than the one guy who has played more games in a Lightning sweater than anyone else, it's not hard to see why the Hall of Famer Dave Andreychuk is called "captain"

Ahhhh Affy. He was good at what he did. He was a solid player with a lot of upside but was just never good enough to crack the top 6 and get the big minutes. I remember when we tried that with Alexeev and he had some good nights and on others he was totally invisible. I gotta see what Dmitri is up to nowadays.
