TT obviously has a lot of value, but the Sabres have to move a major player imo. They have been through several, mostly bad, coaches but refuse to play a system even under Ruff. Pegula is bad, but something else is rotten in Buffalo.

Unfortunately, thanks to Neely and Sweeney's mind-boggling incompetence, the Bruins can't make a realistic offer.

Tage is almost as untouchable as Dahlin. Not because he’s a superstar or anything but because he’s an actual 1C and we have no center depth behind him. He’s also the only definitive top line player we have.

The ONLY was he’s moved would be in some wild scenario where, say, Draisaitl became available.

I don't like your odds on that one.

They were playing the system already at the beginning of the season, we just don't have enough quality players and we have the youngest team in the league, our special teams are bad, the defense is terrible without Dahlin while he is injured. I am not against some shakeup, but I am not trading key players, I would rather add 2-4 decent players/vets.

27 years old player with 1 ppg season under his belt is worth Suzuki, a very likely top 5 1st and ANOTHER untouchable asset, to MAYBE get the Sabres attention?

That's like 3 times the value Buffalo got for Jack Eichel who led Vegas to a cup.
Eichel was risky because of his back injury.

He's pacing for his second 40 goal season right now on a team that's lost ten in a row last I checked. Everyone else is underperforming. He is the last bottle of water for a man jogging through the Sahara. Buffalo has no reason to trade Thompson and they desperately need him.

They're in need of centers. If you want the best center of a team that needs centers, you can start with a lesser center that's almost as good. Then to make up the value you need to add another top tier piece (think Huberdeau + Weegar for Tkachuk). That gets you even. But you're trying to poach the guy that they absolutely cannot afford to trade. That's where the pick comes from

I'm confused by the values in this thread. Is this during that 20 game stretch he had a few years ago? Why are people listing him as if he is any good?

How long has Buffalo been in a rebuild? 10+ years? that's insane. Just fold the franchise and sell it wholesale. What other sports team in history has had over a decade to figure it out?

Might be a dumb question - Why would the Sabres trade their 100pt center? Wouldn't the pragmatic thing be to trade picks/prospects for some veteran leadership to help take the load off the younger players on the team?
Buffalo has a 100-point centre?

I thought their top centre is Tage Thompson, and he's already pretty much untouchable as it is!

Better deal him now for peanuts before he demands out ala Brady in Ottawa…
Get ready for the two nickels and a quarter offers!
