Value of: Tage Thompson to Carolina

Classic HF ....I want a quality piece back but I won't give you anything but spare parts and magic beans
What? Thompson is great. How many times do I have to say Carolina doesn’t have the movable pieces?

Trading Aho doesn’t make sense. The whole idea is to AUGMENT the forward position and C depth.

It’s not that Tage Thompson isn’t worth the pieces that listed as ‘not available’, he absolutely is. It’s that Carolina isn’t in a position to move those guys unless it’s for some sort of outrageous overpay.

You are missing the point. If you want to acquire someone like Thompson the team looking to acquiring him might have only one player " not available"..not 8+ players.

Carolina has multitude of picks and prospects, and some roster players that could be sent.

We have a glaring need for a RH Center that would be in our top 6.

What would it cost?

I don’t understand why people post these without considering the position of the other team.

Are you willing to part with Slavin or Aho? We could really use em, we have picks and prospects.

Barring Tage publicly demanding out- it’d be a disaster to trade our best forward to move further from playoffs for now. So kindly take allll your picks and prospects, put ‘em in a pile, and sit on ‘em.

Not missing anything.

Yeah... we're not a fit. What we have to move is picks, futures, and maybe kids on ELCs. (I don't see a way Stankoven, Blake, and Nadeau all play in Carolina). Buffalo clearly doesn't need any of these though.

But, a deal moving substantial pieces off the NHL roster doesn't make any sense for Carolina. There's just nothing to discuss here.

User name checks out...

/yeah I don't see why Buffalo would want to trade him & I don't see Carolina being willing to pay the price needed to entice Buffalo into doing so.

You don't see any reason why Buffalo would want to shake things up?

Buffalo should be looking at all options at this point.

Sure they should want to shake things up, their playoff drought is far longer than most NHL careers. 'Something' needs to change (however as a distant outsider looking in, that something seems to point to the owner as the cause of many of their problems...that is a tough change to pull off)

Shaking things up though doesn't include getting rid of a player that they should be building around. Could he be available? Sure, but the team isn't shopping him around so if you really want him then you need to come to them with an offer that just can't be turned down...the players that 'you' don't want to get rid of might move the needle. Anything less though won't get it done.

I find it funny when people say prospects and picks to Buffalo

There is no organization in the league that could be less intrigued by those 2 words
Haha, so true. Buffalo looks to be loaded with young players, what is the real need for them to finally take that next step, besides getting rid of the owner?

Getting rid of the GM. Getting rid of the coaching staff. Adding pro scouts. So many issues before you even get to the roster. All of it beginning with the decision making process of the owner.

Looks like the rot starts from the top and worked its way down the leadership ladder. Not a great way to run a professional hockey club. As there been any rumours of any other rich guy wanting to buy the Sabres?

Yes, but the guy already owns a team. So... until Jacobs sells the Bruins, it seems like it would have to be some money out of left field to make it happen.

Well, I truly hope that someone does come out of left field to help save the fans from what looks to be a never ending cycle of mediocrity
