Value of: Tage Thompson to Carolina

Buffalo probably would want Aho + Chatfield for Thompson + Byram + prospect. Not sure that Carolina wants Byram though, so there'd have to be another move to get Byram to a third team for a player that Carolina actually wants (right handed D maybe). Even then, it's a tough sell getting Carolina to agree to trade Aho and Chatfield for Thompson and Byram. Not sure if adding Kulich or Ostlund or Helenius or 9th overall pick is gonna sell them on it. They might just wanna stick with their guys.
I wouldn't trade tage alone for just aho and Chatfield let alone adding Byram AND any of the 4 pieces you mentioned.

Entertaining this idea for a millisecond:

The only somewhat interesting piece that Carolina has that isn't nailed down with an NMC or NTC is Jarvis. As a Buffalo fan, it's commonplace to assume anyone with any sort of NMC or NTC won't waive to come here. And I HIGHLY doubt Aho or Svech would waive to come here.

Now, I suppose if Buffalo brass really does see Tage as a winger........then Jarvis for Tage makes some sense. But I really don't see any reason why either team would do this.

Interesting. I see Tage as the most valuable individual piece but as a neutral party, If I'm offered Tage or Aho + Chatfield for similar acquisition prices it's a tough decision.

I wouldn't do any of these trades from Buffalo's point of view, and the Sabres definitely aren't looking to move Tage. But I also don't see Carolina targeting Tage. He's not a Brind'Amour-style player. The whole concept is flawed at its core.

Thats all? Thompson would be the best player on Carolina and is signed to an amazing contract. He has some of the most value in the league of any player.

No it is not all.. Those were 2 pieces I would want in return. But I have since retracted on Carrier given that contract...and I was under impression Nish was an RD not another LD.

Canes could do a great futures package but that isn't what Buffalo wants. We don't have the movable roster pieces to get this done.

Unless they would be interested in Blake and/or Stankoven for forwards. Defense we would trade anyone not named Slavin or Nikishin.

Basically pick any players other than Aho, Svech, Jarvis, Slavin, Nikishin and other picks and prospects and Canes could make a deal work.

5 untouchables and you’re trying to get the league’s 3rd leading goal-scorer (1st in ES goals), signed to a sweetheart contract for several more seasons. Also he’s a 6’7” unicorn. Lol.

The second sentence is "we don't have the movable roster pieces to get this done."

Part of that is Aho has a NMC and Slavin has a 15 team NTC. They're not going to a rebuild, even a late one.

Aha, but have you all considered that we now have sleeper agents, Kevyn Adams and Eric Staal in the Buffalo front office?

Bro... I said we don't have the movable pieces. I didn't make the thread and I was saying these are the pieces that Canes aren't moving and here is what is available. Literally said there isn't a fit to get it done if Buffalo wants NHL players which they should rather than futures. I know who Thompson is and what he's worth.

I don't see a deal around Thompson that works from a Tampa standpoint since what Buffalo would then need is a cap value top 6 goal scorer and still need top 4 RHD. It makes a hole by going back in time to a period before they got McLeod as the transport center guy in the middle of the lineup.
The only thing I'd consider is a base around Tage for Point. Point is a true C, a little more expensive, but older as well (not substantially by any means)
