Carolina has multitude of picks and prospects, and some roster players that could be sent.

We have a glaring need for a RH Center that would be in our top 6.

What would it cost?

Start with Nikishin ...end with Carrier and make the middle piece solid.

Buffalo probably would want Aho + Chatfield for Thompson + Byram + prospect. Not sure that Carolina wants Byram though, so there'd have to be another move to get Byram to a third team for a player that Carolina actually wants (right handed D maybe). Even then, it's a tough sell getting Carolina to agree to trade Aho and Chatfield for Thompson and Byram. Not sure if adding Kulich or Ostlund or Helenius or 9th overall pick is gonna sell them on it. They might just wanna stick with their guys.

I don't like to be this guy but, lock the thread. Our best forward just won championship for USA and you're like I want him on my team for spare parts. Cool, everyone does. He isn't available lol.
User name checks out...

/yeah I don't see why Buffalo would want to trade him & I don't see Carolina being willing to pay the price needed to entice Buffalo into doing so.

So, what you're saying is I am right :naughty:. Sabres too often blamed and traded their good players. I don't think Adams is keen to add Tage to the list of Cozens, Eichel, and Rhino.

Of course you're right (broken clock & all that... :-p ). Buffalo is similar to Anaheim around here with many fan bases... "Hey, we want a really good player of yours. Here's an offer that completely favors our team but you should be happy that it was even offered, I mean every team looking to exit a rebuild should be thrilled with a large quantity of loot box picks & prospects that we no longer want. Not everyone gets this offer of a case of practice pucks & a full team set of game worn jocks... "

Is Buffalo exiting a rebuild? Sabres need to keep their best forwards and trade from a position of strength, which is left shot D. Byram or Power should be the guys they’re trading to get better is positions they’re weakest. Trading TT makes no sense.

The goal for Carolina is to acquire a core forward without sending one back in return.

Wrong player to target. Even if he asked for a trade, the Sabres would have to search for the best hockey deal they could find. Potentially assisting another team hang a banner in the rafters would be horrible.

Would Buffalo entertain an offer of Anthony Cirelli + rights to Isaac Howard + Emil Lilleberg (scrappy LD, undercooked, prob will be a decent D man eventually but TB doesn't have that much time to wait) + whatever picks we have left for Tage?

I mean, it's the one thing Buffalo has been good at in the Pegula era.

....

Absolutely not

I don't see a deal around Thompson that works from a Tampa standpoint since what Buffalo would then need is a cap value top 6 goal scorer and still need top 4 RHD. It makes a hole by going back in time to a period before they got McLeod as the transport center guy in the middle of the lineup.

That is basically what I figured, thank you for the (lack of) sanity check.
