He’d be scoring if he would just hit the net. Y’all are too biased about a trade in your critique of him.

Read what you wrote and slap yourself in the back of the head.

Hey if he didn’t over stick he would have a lot less turnovers too.

Nobody gives a hoot about the O’Reilly trade regarding Tage.

He should have been down this year. It’s a simple non-biased position. Consider one’s own bias when they are the only lunatic saying everyone else is crazy despite giraffe’s worth of evidence.

He's as raw as they come. I see loads of potential, but lots of fundamentals missing.

Developing in Rochester might have produced genuine improvement. Instead he's been over his head or scratched. All he's really managed to do is lose the toe-drag that was a consistent turnover move.

What a waste. That's on Botts. And shame on him if keeping Tage up was to put lipstick on his pig of a trade.

He shows little small flashes but that is about it, Hopefully CT can get him some production and confidence in the playoffs. At least his line mates will be better then sobo who just Tanks<--- xD any line he plays with.

I really think he'll end up being a wasted talent because his skills weren't developed properly

His tools are so tantalizing.

Blues fan coming in peace...

I, for one, would love to have him back. The trade doesn't effect his value to me. Buffalo fans thought he was NHL talent because he played on the big club last year, but that was out of necessity more than talent.

He is young. 21. Give him time to fill out his frame. Then people can complain about him if he doesn't produce.

In 2 to 3 years he will be a force. He has the big body with the soft hands. He can handle the puck in the offensive zone and use his body to keep possession. He has a great slap shot and offensive zone awareness.

Give it time or give him back.

P.S.
Please keep Sobotka. Berglund is reportedly doing fine - living in St. Louis vice Sweden now.

Great shot that goes far side wide and out the zone.

But just think if 94% of his shots didn't miss, and instead went into the net, then his great shot might actually be a great shot.

If only he scored goals he'd be a goal scorer. Excellent observation.

No he can't handle the puck and use his body to keep possession. He does not have a great slap shot. He is so offensively aware that he panics every time he gets the puck, whiffs or shoots so high and wide that Sabres might be charged with manslaughter if they continue to play him.
His big body is like a microwaved marshmallow.

At this point I can only assume he signed his ELC with the condition he stays in the NHL and part of our deal to get him was to honor it. It’s ridiculous that he’s stayed up this whole time. Sadly he is not much worse than our 13th forward so he still plays.

Tage has pretty soft hands and a good shot. He's just a possession nightmare since he frequently makes bad decisions with the puck and doesn't battle hard enough or smart enough for it after the mistakes get made, so it doesn't really matter how soft his hands are or how good his shot is. Tools, no toolbox. Having another black hole in Sobotka tied to him the majority of the year probably also doesn't help the kid.

I don't think anyone can say for sure that the AHL would be (or would have been) the answer for his development up to this point. Just that it probably would've been preferable (as fans) to having to watch him on the Sabres this year.

I still think his issues specifically are indicative that he has more to learn at the NHL level than the AHL personally... but he definitely has to start showing that he's learning something.

Scott Wilson? Jason Pominville? The list can keep going.

If you put both of them into this lineup last night and replaced Tage and Sobotka, it might've been the best forward lineup all year. Then just replace Scandella with Pilut and we're all set.

Tage Thompson is probably the 20th best player in the organization at forward, if that. He flat out sucks.

Bigger forwards take time. I don't think he's a bust yet. He just needs more direction and needs to pick who he's going to be. Then work towards it. I think he needs to be a power forward with a great handle and great shot. Get him in the weight room, and feed him every hour on the hour.

I don't see someone who initiates contact in the way one would think of a traditional power forward. I don't know what role they want him to fill, but so far, this season has been a wash.

I find it amusing that Tage, who regularly finds the puck on his stick in the offensive zone during his shifts from takeaways, etc. gets derided because his decisions used to be awful, and have gotten a lot better. But the players who will spend entire periods without touching the puck once in the o-zone get a free pass.

Agree that I don't see the traditional contact-seeking power forward. I did see him fire into the corners against Carolina quite a bit. I just don't think he's a killer who is trying to destroy people.

I see a Alex Tuch / MaxPac type power forward. Plays in the same position, does some of the same things, but is more skilled than a hammer.

I see Daze in a way. But bigger would be better for him - get him bulked up so he can absorb contact and win battles.
