I know you're going to come at me on this, but this is a very telling statistic. Think of the softest player on your team. Think of how small they are and how often they get knocked on their ass.

This has to be an indicator for a coach/scout/GM as to how well a player will perform in:

1. important games near the end of the season
2. overtime
3. clutch situations like holding a lead or trying to tie a game
4. playoffs

TOA is the perfect indicator of how well a player performs in key situations and key games. If you see your player constantly knocked to the ice, then they have almost no business being in the National Hockey League.

I've seen numerous great 4th line defense shutdown guys who get hit and knocked down all the time, they take hits to make plays to get the puck out.

Like Marcus Kruger. Who was a key defensive forward for 2 cups

Hyman used to fall on his rear end every other shift when he first came to Toronto. I think that's why everyone called him Buster

I can't help but say one of my favorite players ever, Nazim Kadri.

The dude was always losing his edge, I don't even think he was diving or embellishing he just always kept going if he was getting hooked, or lost his footing somehow.

Not sure if he's improved there.

And I wouldn't call him soft.
