Dureau scores in his first game back with Orlando. He brings a dynamism to the forward group that no one really has. Most of the forwards have been a letdown this season. Not doing much but getting in their cardio.
I think we need some playmakers.
edit: what does Jack Adams even do, besides get its nominees fired within two years? He scored 27 last year with SC. With his size, I'd figure he was a net front guy, but we've got him on the wing, where he doesn't end up in front of the net. He's doing okay with assists this season, but the Bears need goals.
edit2: Orlando loves being on the boards, immobile with the puck. Dureau can at least move through the middle to start forcing the Toledo defense to make decisions. Bears need to have the puck inside their house.

Orlando is second to last in their division by point percentage.
Goaltending is working well. Goalscoring has been an issue, but I think it's the d-corp needs some work. We don't really have a lot of offensive capability back there, or it's not being brought out of them. None of the defensemen have more than one goal. I get that in lower leagues it's hard to find certain types of players, but when we need north-south chances, every defenseman is basically predicated on playing a simple defensive game. None of them are really shooters. I was a bit concerned about that in the pre-season, but I figured our coaches, entering their third season, and off a second round playoff elimination, would have it covered.
Recent additions to the d-corp seem to be adding some of that.

I can't recall being sent an offensive-oriented defenseman by TB/SYR. The last ones we got were Cody Donaghey and Michael Brodzinski by San Jose, who were both great for us.

I looked at ECHL stats. OSB's top producing defenseman is the currently recalled Djibril Toure, a player assigned from Ottawa/Belleville. He's 1g, 5a in 18 games, or a .33 (repeating of course) PPG%.
Norfolk have 4 defensemen with more points than Toure.

I like this signing, as having defensemen with vision can open up both north-south and east-west chances. I feel like north-south kind of gets simplified to a shot from the blueline, hoping for a rebound or deflection. You can also have a d-man see a forward down low, and get them a one-timer.

The last minute or two of today's game is quite literally the quietest I've heard the crowd.
Bears had some poor puck luck, and the Rays had all of it.
I think I could bear to see some more aggressive backchecking. It may not be representative of how some other league plays, but Jacksonville and SC don't seem to mind. SC is constantly bumping the Bears and sticking to them. The Bears play like it's 2020. Six feet of space. Opponents probably don't have the moves to deal with intense defensive pressure, but we act like they do.
