So, would you go back and undo that trade?

I wouldn't say Yager is fast. I'd say he has average NHL speed.

I know Brunicke has wheels. Pieniemi also or however you spell it.
Yes….i wasn’t happy to begin with that we traded prospect for prospect when we should be collecting more prospects….we traded a faster center with a better shot for a winger with perhaps a better overall game….these are projections…I didn’t get it and still don’t

McGroarty is in theory closer to NHL ready. Now, he's off to a slow start in WB but has played better of late. Honestly neither is lighting it up. I normally would prefer a Center over a wing. If that trade never happened I'd be ok with it. But I would say that Rutger has a higher ceiling.

Let's be honest, NONE of the guys we have in the system with the possible exception of the goalie prospects are likely '' future core'' guys. Pickering, Brunicke and McGroarty MIGHT come close. What we have here are some potentially very solid complimentary pieces. The only way to get very high end ''core'' talent is to luck into it like MIN did with Kaprizov or LA back in the day getting Robitaille in a late round. We drafted Jake and Letang in the 3rd round. Otherwise you have to plummet down the standings and get a top five or six pick.
This is the truth. McGroaty is our highest rated prospect and even he projects to be a complimentary top 6 winger at best.

We had THE major playoff return in Guentzel.

Not one of the 3 prospects we got back had speed.
Right, because teams don’t trade them anymore. The league figured out that in the modern day NHL, speed is king. No one’s going to trade those guys out of their org unless they have to, or are getting something similar back.

I thought the Rangers may stink this year, but still shocked to see it happen.

Just need one of the Sens or Bruins to stumble and the path is there for us over the next few weeks to put some real distance between us and the Metro teams that are near us.
Same. Also shocked that Washington turned it around to the degree they have. I thought they might be better but I didn't see the Caps going from a minus 40 goal differential team to a plus 40 goal differential team.

The Pens of course have perfectly met expectations lol.

Why the f*** is Tomasino on this team? Is Phillips busy? There isn't one single thing that Tomasino does better than any of Puljujarvi, Puustinen, Ponomarev, Bemstrom, or Koivunen. What's that common denominator there?
Doobler trying to prove that he’s a genius and finally won a trade.

The sooner they cut bait the better, tbh.

I’m not shocked at Washington at all. I tried to tell you guys all summer PLD would be a great add.

Unfortunately, a .926 S% and 2.00GAA isn't good enough to win in Mike Sullivan's NHL.

Literally do not have enough scoring. Has been shouted from the rooftops and unfortunately the 'creators' of our rosters seem to overlook goal totals.

PK, puck transition...and...they assume the rest will fall into place. Hire 12 guys that all average to 5 goals per season and assume they can just pick up the slack.

Knew in the Summer that this roster would likely produce enough goals to sit them around 22nd in the league. I'm not sure we'll even get there. They get their spurts against horrid teams...but traditionally teams get better after Christmas lol. We shall see. Imagine having more than 1 capable NHL line though. If only we had the same cap that everyone else had to spend on these scorers.

It's insane how bad this return is. Guentzel is one of the game's most reliable and most consistent wingers and has proved that on 3 teams now. F*** that trade man.

The team as a whole looks good. Not sure PLD will be the one carrying them once they inevitably start to slump.

It's year 2 of his 8 year (8.5 milly) contract so let's definitely chill on statements like this.

He's 26. Lots of good years there. And surprise surprise when used in a top six role unlike what he was in LA, he's back to his usual 55-60 pt pace.

Also, they got out of Kuemper.

I can't imagine the vibes this team is feeling with Jarry gone. Ned and Blommer or Lankinen as I argued for this summer and an actual top six forward instead of loser bait like Beauvillier, Bunting, etc.

But hey, Dubas got Kevin Hayes for a 2nd.

And a 3rd on a team going nowhere anyhow. Why not?

Tell you what sunshine, why not give it a couple years before you completely write it off.

Brunicke, Bunting, Koivunen, Cruz and Pono. Bunting is a solid LW, the jury is out on the others, but to write all of them off this early is silly. Brunicke was the talk of training camp, Koivunen is 2hd or 3rd on WB in scoring, Let's wait a bit before we declare anything concrete. CAR got absolutely NOTHING for Jake, NOTHING! If one or two of these guys pan out it's a good deal. And whether ppl here like it or not Bunting is our third best winger and has eight points his last nine games. Can Geno say that?

Also, what would keeping that muppet (Jake) do? Very likely cost us a high draft pick and just miss the playoffs. How exactly does that help anyone? Being perpetually mediocre aint not gonna do shit! And remember, we missed the playoffs each of the last two years WITH Jake. Well, until the trade deadline last year.
