I mean, who on the left side are you giving up for him? They just re-signed Chych, so he's out. Sandin is signed long termish, the only guy without a long term deal is Fehervary and Marin is clearly better then AA.

As an aside, I still beat the drum that I wish they'd flip Lenoard and Raddysh. He's absolutely wasted on that Eller line. And I'm not sure why people are so down on McMichael, he looked great this game in my opinion. No way am I breaking that line up, I'd still swap Protas in for Beau and (if they're going to continue this Leno with Eller combo) sub Raddysh out for him on the 4th line.
Was thinking about this earlier.

When Protas is healthy, I would keep Beauvillier on the first line unless he starts struggling, slot Protas in with PLD and Wilson to get that line scoring, and then shift Leonard down to the '4th' line with Dowd and Duhaime. '3rd' line would be McMichael - Eller - Mango, with an occasional double shift of Strome/PLD/Dowd, depending on who is hot, taking a shift or two from Eller.

Best Captain in the NHL

Just finished to watch the whole game.
Pretty good game except the 10 minutes

Was forced to watch with ESPN the first 2 periods then my feed switched to Joe B. I do imagine how happy Ferraro & co were in the 3rd.

Make 2-0 and go win game 3 in MTL.

I just don't get people wanting to slot McMichael down. He was the most dangerous guy on that 2nd line last night, but we want to put him down to our essential 4th line for that?

I think Beau had a great game, but I'm not going to downgrade a better player for him. Protas should be able to do everything Beau can do, and do it better while helping that line defensively. Beau will fit right in with Dowd and Duhaime and the 14 minutes they got at 5v5 (which is identical to what Beau got on line 1). If we're really stuck on Beau on line 1, I'd much rather bump Wilson down then McMichael. Besides hitting, I don't think Wilson has been up to snuff as far as offensive top 6 producer.

I am actually not worried about Alexeyev stepping up for Fehervary after last night.

I am actually a little worried about the Chychrun-Carlson pairing.

It felt like they were kind of out of sync on their reverses in the D-zone. JC6 kept falling a lot? They didn’t really build any momentum in the O-zone either. At least how I remember it.

The playoffs are when simply getting chances is not enough. The third line had a ton of chances last night too, but I don't see people clamoring for Eller or Mangiapane to get more ice time. Protas with PLD & Wilson went 13 GF / 5 GA at 5 on 5 in the regular season and controlled nearly 60% of shot attempts.

The idea isn't to punish McMichael but to establish two high end scoring lines. If Beau falters, you can mix it up, but that's what I would roll for the first game Protas is healthy for.

Also, a reminder that Stephenson, Vrana, and Eller (due to injury) all had turns in the top 6 during the 2018 run. This is not a permanent demotion. Connor will have an important role to play if the Caps have a deep run in them.

Yep.

Having good players on the third/fourth line is not a bad thing. I'm sure we all remember Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel torching us in 2016.
