It's extremely easy to pipe up after the game with a post like this, when you have the retrospective perspective of the final outcome.

If you don't want hot takes, you might as well nuke the GDT all together. It's basically a thread that tracks the pulse of the game.

Trust me I know. Hell I make a lot of those. Tonight's GDT was just something else though, first time this season I had to stop reading it.

That was a weird game where 3 of our 4 goals were fluky bounces, the Engvall one, the one where Holl fanned and then it hit him, and the Matthews one. Only the Tavares goal wasn't fluky. But we could have easily had some legit goals in there.

Happy we got the win, team needs to be much better than that though, that oilers team is not that great; Campbell was pretty meh but did enough for another win, he answered Smith with a big save on on Nurse late in the third. Nice to see that 2nd line get going & Matthews to finally get a bounce to rebreak the ice; I'm starting to become pretty impressed with Chucky, I wouldn't count on it but if he keeps going the way he's going than maybe a 3C, bottom 6 mucker/grinder or an extra goalie (less likely but just as insurance) could be the better option before the deadline. Still hasn't changed my mind yet about needing another top 6 forward though.

I turned on the game when they were down 3-1 late in the third. I figured it was a foregone conclusion, so started watching something else. Logged in here just now to see how things ended up and...............now I have to record the replay of the game or the game in an hour.

How we got there was interesting, even though our puck luck was brutal early in the game we kept on fighting and got the right result so that's positive

I liked that 2nd line and Chucky looks like a great under the radar find, now it's just a matter of Matthews and Marner starting to feel it again
