First time I've heard TSN mention the 96 to 2005 run and not call it the 'Hasek years'... I hate it when they call it the Hasek years... reason being because he only played in one of those many golds and that was Nagano. It was 8 golds between Olympics, World Jrs and WC's and Hasek played 1 of them. Call it the Vokoun years or the Chechmanek years or the Hnlickca years dammit! Done ranting.lol

I didn't know Hasek was only part of one of those, but that's pretty lazy of TSN.

I'm loving this game. It's tight, it's feisty, both teams give 100%. It's a fantastic hockey game. The Czech team has been unlucky, but I consider the physical game and the scrums just an extra spice as a hockey fan. Both team would HATE to lose this game and it shows.

Of course it's much easier for me as a Swedish fan to love the game. As Czech fan I would probably be alot more pissed off. Still, both teams are good. Neither Sweden nor the Czech team should be in this situation, but that is all on themselves.

Unfortunately for the Czech Republic, Sweden is not a fun opponent in a must game. This group is crazy. Even though both teams have struggled against weaker teams, they both play very well against teams that play to win.

Sweden have a deserved lead as they are clearly more efficient. Overall, the game seems very even.

What concerns the Czechs: 4th game at this tourney, 4th abysmal performance.

...Why is there still no clear structure visible in our game?
...Why is Pesan not taking any timeouts?
...When did Kovar win his last faceoff in the o-zone?
...Why are we doing useless forechecks?

Are you joking? What are you even talking about?!

Haven't you seen #24 of Sweden clearly instigating at the end of the period?

He may have instigated, but three Czechs went after him afterwards, somehow resulting in a Czech PP

Edit: Okay, they revised it to a 4 on 4. More reasonable.

It's disappointing that Czechs weren't able to use their momentum to get on the scoreboard. It will be difficult to come back motivated, stay focused and not get frustrated. Still they are fully capable to tie this one up and even win.

I know it's a silly pet peeve but it drives me crazy.... I find it disrespectful to all the great Czechs from that time.

Also, the slant in Canada has always been we wanted a shootout and Hasek was the ONLY reason we won. They had 2 hall of fame goalies on that team... Roy was in Net, Brodeur was on the bench. The other goalie was Curtis Joseph.lol

Anyways, side rant, back to complaining about this game.haha

but three Czechs went after him afterwards
exactly, after he instigated. That was the point. He instigated and they replied. He doesn't instigate, no reply.

I didn't mind the scrum, Czechs need to bring this to the alley and get pissed off... if I were the Swedish coach and I'd instruct them to ignore the Czechs and skate away and watch the Czechs take penalties as a result. If I were the Czech coach I'd say keep scrapping after the whistle and get into it.

I think Czechs were better in 2nd.. BUT Sweden had a lead so they don't need to score. They are ALWAYS well coached and great at holding a lead. Eg. the weaker nations try to freeze it and delay the clock... however, the Swedes just play a beauty system with a lead and usually score again. Good job from the Swedes. They are playing it perfect!

Don't bite if you don't want to end up in the box. 4 on 4 is a decent decision.

Or whatever these refs decide to do. Oh yeah, a horrible decision. Wtf.

20 mnutes later and refs still don't know who has the PP.lol

I think Czechs have one.. not sure I agree but I'll take it.

Alright. Go Czechs. Get on the scoreboard! I will say it's going to be Kubalik!

Well, we're on the PP so his instigation didn't work very well. If he had just skated away after the bell with a 2-0 lead.. then it isn't 2-1

Yeah I would say Swedes instigated scrums for some time, but I don't think we deserved to end on PP for this one.

Honestly, LOVE Vrana.. what a moment for him! Marek Sykora better call him and apologize.. what a shot!

That missed net by Sekac is looking huge now.. he better score! Kovar with a great chance!

Kovar got 2 for Roughing, & 2 for Interference in the IIHF game center, then those were removed at the start of the period. Well then.
