Sad but true, the 'murcans should gold medal next olympics
Yes. They not only are a better team, but they are built to win one game elimination more than Canada. I feel like team Canada with their 2 way and pass first players are more geared towards a 7 game series. The Americans have more and better snipers, game breakers that is more beneficial in this type of format/olympics.

They need to keep McDavid and MacKinnon apart. Both like to rush it up the ice and mack can try to do too much by himself sometimes.
It would work but MacKinnon would have to give McDavid the puck at some point.

The trick to playing with 97: give him the puck, be willing to shoot it when he gives it back to you.

Perhaps you missed the 3 backdoor plays that were near misses generated from Dahlin from the blue line. Not bad for getting zero PP and OT time.
Karlsson was garbage. Ekholm was awesome but I wouldn't say he was generating much.
This Karlsson was bad.

No worries… I will keep an eye out. And I’m not “against” them. It’s just that we had two guys who by ALL the stats deserved to be there and know how to play with McD….

And here we are, you impressed by McD on a night when he looked pretty below standard to most Oiler fans. It’s a short tourney and he’s a secret weapon. We should be doing things to maximize his impact.
I feel you. It's one game against a pretty tough team in Sweden. I agree that McDavid's impact should be maximized as best it can be so I think putting him with MacKinnon might not be as effective as it would be if they were separated. MacKinnon too selfish McDavid probably could afford to be a bit more selfish. Didn't really balance out like I would've assumed.

I don't blame MacKinnon for keeping the puck on his stick in OT. He's one of the most dangerous 1 on 1 players in the world and he's clutch when the game is on the line. He wants to be the hero.
Yeah who cares if he loses Canada a game going 1v3 and risking a break the other way. He's "clutch". Sorry but a guy who is shooting 9.3% shouldn't be playing hero ball. He was a complete ball hog who almost cost this team a win with his selfish play.

The ice times looked pretty reasonable. Would've given Sid a bit more in OT and I thought Marchand deserved a few more minutes overall, but otherwise nothing stood out. Reinhart and Marner were underwhelming but the latter gets a bit of a pass for the game winner.

Pang almost needed to change his pants when Reinhart made a simple dump in. I think he’s a phenomenal player but would be a better fit with 87 than 97.

There is no universe where we need to see Mack with Mcdavid again. Clearly MacK is delusional and thinks he's the best player in the world and tries to prove it every shift he's on the ice with McDavid. Keep him with Sid who he respects and plays with in the off-season so he might actually pass for once.
Mack shows McDavid whose the best everytime they play against one another. He dominates everytime

Hey, 1 in 10 times he scores, so if he just drives to the net with no regard for his teammates 10 times one is bound to go in

Yeah. But those days are over. Price is gone and Canada needs to start producing goalies. I don’t even know if there’s a great one on the way up. Really strange… what the hell happened to Canada’s goaltending?
Goaltending in general is way more volatile than it used to be.
