Why is written in stone that Caufield has to play with Suzuki?
Too early. He has so much to learn before being put on a 1st line.I would at least like to see it tried.
We gonna see them together mainly on PP.Because Caufield has scored nearly 50 goals in his last ~82 games playing with Suzuki.
It wouldn't make any sense not to start them together. We could see Caufield and Dach together at some point during the season if the team goes on scoring slump.

Ovechkin has been predictable for about 15 years, but still gets the puck in the net.I would break the duo, since it's so damn hard to find someone. And they are becoming predictable. And Dach could be terrific with Caufield.
Yup, that 3rd line would be painful to watch. Gallagher will drag them down.My lines for Game One. only two new players - Newhook and Pearson BUT got rid of Hoffman, Drouin, Pitlick, Gurianov which is a positive.
Caufied - Suzuki - Monahan (Monahan to take faceoffs and add size)
RHP - Dach - Anderson (they like to play together very much)
Slaf (better on LW) - Newhook - Gallagher (nothing better for the moment)
Pezzetta - Evans - Pearson
Armia & Ylonen out (But they could put Armia in and Pezz out)
Heineman to Laval (no space for him , and no waivers)
Matheson-Savard
Guhle- Kovacevic
Xhekaj-Harris or Barron
Norlinder to Laval (same reason than Heineman)
Lindstrom on waivers (or injured ???)
Montambeault
Allen
Primeau ????????
Habs need a new 2nd or 3rd line winger and a new 4th line center. And some upgrade in the crease. Maybe DeSmith should had been kept ?Yup, that 3rd line would be painful to watch. Gallagher will drag them down.
The only way it could work is to tell Gallagher to always skate directly to the crease and instruct Slaf and Newhook to shoot pucks at/on Gallagher and hope for a fluke deviation.
Gallagher simply can't skate with these kids.
First of all, I find a bit ridiculous to use a future HOF and #2 all time goal scorer as an example for Caufield. I'm pretty sure I can find you dozens of other scorers who became predictable and with less success.Ovechkin has been predictable for about 15 years, but still gets the puck in the net.
I think we will see a revolving door for the 3rd wheel on this line. The only thing we can expect is the caufield and suzuki duo to be permanent, but it's not uncommon throughout the league for the 3rd wheel to be a revolving piece.
It will be based on who is playing well at the time, and if the current 3rd wheel is getting stale.
I think Caufield would produce the same with DachBecause Caufield has scored nearly 50 goals in his last ~82 games playing with Suzuki.

Definitely wouldn't be opposed to trying to bring him in, but I feel like even "buying low" for a first overall pick from a few years ago would be more than I'd be comfortable with the Habs parting ways with.Let's buy low on Lafreniere he's literally the ultimate "mystery man" put him on the top line and see what happens. Atleast he has size.

Love these linesBoston had the best success stacking their top line and giving crumbs to Krejci and offensive opportunities for decades.
Caufield-Suzuki-Dach
RHP-Newhook-Anderson
Slafkovsky-Monahan-Armia
Pezzer-Evans-Gallagher
Give the easy matchup to Newhook and exploit their speed and disruption. Use the big line against small defending pairs. Give 10 minutes to the 4th line and tell them to crash hard, the first line gets the rest.
When Dvorak comes back
Cauf-Suz-dach
Slaf-Monahan-Armia
RHP-Newhook-Andy
Evans-Dvorak-Gally
Play the 4th line more. Reavaluatr Slaf and if he still sucks after being given a bone send him down. (Because they wont send him down right now...)
Any other lineup hinders the offensive production of the two most important storylines: Newhook and Dach. We need both of them to flourish offensively.
Although true, I think at some point it should be discussed to split them up.
Caufield is the smallest winger in the NHL
Dach is in the top 10 of the biggest center in the game.
I would be very intrigued with a line of Monahan - Dach - Caufield.
Actually, Suzuki assisted around 1/3 of CC's 48 goals since MSL came in.
Hate to break it to you, but it's a myth you're entertaining.
That doesn't change anything. He's shown great chemistry with Suzuki and has had great success.
Maybe he could produce the same amount playing with Dach, but what would be the point of trying that right now?
