Kings Article: Sutter Downplays LA Kings Forward Prospect Andy Andreoff Scoring First NHL Goal

With all due respect, Daryl: how do you downplay the only ****ing goal the team has scored in the past five ****ing periods? (At home, yet.)

"...whiffed on the shot"

"he's played a lot of games this year"

"I wish somebody would pay me $700K to break a sweat for an hour a day"

"he should be happy to be in the environment he's in"

Haha. Typical Sutter. I love it.

Glad to have you aboard the Sutter hate train!!!! :handclap:

Even if you are getting off at the next stop.

It hard to hate a coach that brought us 2 cups

Now... did the Kings win the cups because of Sutter or was the team stacked and they won in spite of Sutter? I look at things like a 29th ranked offense before the Olympic break, the team in shambles before the Olympic break, Nolan starting the playoffs with Carter/Toffoli, setting a record for the most games played to get to the SCF.... and seriously ask if there isn't another coach that could do a better job with the team.

He wasn't asked about the team's production.

Running your mouth is a right that you have to earn. Sutter hasn't earned the right to run his mouth about Andy's goal because as Ron pointed out his team hasn't been scoring... This isn't a recent drought issue... the teams been around 20+ ranked in offense for most of Sutter's time here.

Nice of Sutter to be a little flippant about the goal and I'm sure he didn't mean any harm in it. But, as I've said before, Sutter often (purposely?- I'm just a cowboy from the sticks in the big city) comes across as a fool but he can also be a real jerk at times. He'd never get away with some of the **** he says in a Canadian city. But, as some say, it's hard to criticize a coach who's won 2 cups in 3 years. That'll come later.

Sutter has coached the Kings to two Stanley Cups, and to 3 WCFs in a row. He knows what to say.

The Kings don't win in the playoffs in spite of Sutter. He makes some of the best in-series and in-game adjustments of any coach in the game today. He hasn't been outcoached in a single playoff series in his time with the Kings.

A Monkey or the hot-dog salesman from section 319 could coach that lineup to a cup.
Sutter is actually holding us back.

Just remember when the Kings played their best hockey.
Right after Murray was fired and before Sutter placed them back into position they hated so much when coached by Murray.

If we would have at least a AHL level coach we would totally dominate have already 120 points and 30% powerplay.

Sure.... surviving countless overtime games just by luck
and trailing 3-0 games against San Jose plus getting 2 post hits before scoring in overtime in game 4 sounds like he has never been out coached.

Hmmm, I seem to remember the Kings playing some pretty good hockey in the 2012 playoffs. Who was the coach? Some of you are ridiculous in your criticism of Sutter. Is he perfect? Who is? Has he been the right man for the job he is in today? The answer is obvious.

So glad you're back, if only for the comic relief of statements like the last one in your post.

I wonder what he actually said to Andy about it. Not what he told the media, mind you. That's likely completely different.

After the game Sutter says this:

“Yeah, obviously [it is nice to see],” said Sutter. “Not many players get a chance to play in the National Hockey League, let alone score a goal, so good for him. Hope he’s got a lot more game-winners left in him.”

Then the next day Sutter maybe hears Andreoff say this:

“But yeah, there’s been some tough times this year where I’ve been down, disappointed about my situation.”

Then Sutter says this:

“He’s played enough,” Sutter emphasized. “He played every pre-season game, played 15 games here, played seven in the American league. He’s played enough.”

“You know what? We’re trying to win,” Sutter added. “We’re not here to say, ‘oh, he’s a nice guy,’ or, ‘oh, he scored a goal.’ We’re trying to win. Quite honest, there’s a lot of organizations [where] he would’ve played 65 games in the American league already.”

I'm not surprised.

I think Sutter is one of the best coaches I've ever seen, but I don't think it's because of the X's and O's, or in game adjustments.

He understands the psychological aspect sports. He knows when to criticize, when to praise, how to deflect pressure to the opposition, how to motivate ect.

Ever since he's been here, the team has really taken on his personality. They exude that "act like you've been there before" / "nothing's a big deal" mentality.

Don't believe a single thing that comes out of Sutter's mouth in front of media. He always says these weird things to mess with people. I almost guarantee the whole locker room including the coaches congratulated him.

He was a player and a GM and has been coaching for a while. There is no way he thinks on ice the way he acts off ice. If coaches don't help you win cups because of having a "strong team" then how have the Pens not won every year? Crosby and Malkin are the top 2 players in the world, Letang, Fleury; they should be unstoppable.

Can't believe people think he is incompetent or thinks he is serious.

Sutter was fine playing Voynov once he arrived full time.

It's not the coach, it's what the individual player can handle.

Phil Jackson once said, "Rookies are lower than Whale ****."

Andy learned his lesson, don't complain publicly about ice time. I give him a pass since its not like he meant that as the main topic of his interview...but he slipped and Sutter caught him with a jab to remind him how things are done in LA now.

When did he complain about his ice time? He said nothing of the sort during my interview with him.
