TV: Survivor: General Discussion

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I get your point, but there are some people who just straight up don’t deserve the opportunity and screen time.

The entire Hantz family is among that group. every single one of them thst have been on reality shows are just dirt bags.
Loved Hantz on his seasons. He made it much more entertaining.

Eh, look I don't want full blown criminals, but they were villains, the show needed that. Hantz as much as a tool he is, made his seasons some of the best. Jeff is scared to cast players like now in fear of hurting feelings or offending people. It's sad.

I'm great with Villains. I think Russel was great entertainment and a master class in why jury management is important, albeit a legitimately bad person. Brandon and the other one (who got removed from Big Brother... not worth the effort of googling his name) were absolutely not worthy of a position in these kinds of shows.

It's interesting because Jeff's explanation for why he won't cast villains is actually because he wants to protect the villains from public backlash. As far as I know, he hasn't mentioned being worried about offending viewers.

Just finished watching Micronesia

Theme was Fans vs Favs, I really liked it and thought it was pretty compelling all the way through.
I leaned closer to Ozzy and Amanda, especially Ozzy just because he's just such a goated contestant. He's a unique personality during tribe life and watching him compete in challenges is always thrilling.

Was tough to see both Penner (whomst I liked) and James (I also like) both get pulled from the game for medical emergencies. Penner is one that I feel like had a lot of potential to shake things up. He's a smart player even if abrasive at times. It pretty much forged the pathway for the all girls alliance to steamroll to final 5.

My favourite genre of challenges are once we get past the merge and they start competing for indiv immunity, we get the stamina challenges and the amazing photo finishes.

With Ozzy getting blindsided so early it took away from the potential rivalry between he and Jason that was naturally building. He seemed a lot more antagonistic towards Ozzy than Erik who was a straight up fan in the most natural sense. James also schooled Ozzy in the one stamina challenge where they had to hold their breath while suspended under the cage. He was exceedingly boisterous (during confessionals) anyways and wanted to make sure it was known that he dominated Ozzy (and others).

Always makes me cringe when confident players get sent home with the idol in their pocket, Amanda redeemed it with one of the greatest idol plays I've ever seen. Just peak cinema.

The final two was well deserved, and this isn't brand new discourse but Amanda truly had this season in the bag if not for ANOTHER horrific FTC performance considering how many enemies Parvati had made on the jury.

She's just a drone in the most natural sense of the word. She overestimated her puppy girl act and was feeding the jury crocodile tears when more often than not people can not only see through that but appreciate organic genuinity.

Parvati took her school and snatched what should have been her victory with her slick talk and humour.

Fantastic season.

There's rumours that only 3-5 new era players will be on season 50. Some fan favourites in Jesse and Carolyn have apparently been cut by CBS. It appears CBS wants them to have more old school names for bigger pull.

It's the 50th season, they would have been insane to go heavily with just new era or primarily new era. I think they did a pretty good job if the rumored cast is correct, it would have been nuts to make 50 a celebration of Survivor's history and not have people from Borneo or TAO. There are a couple people I'd rather not see on this cast, but I do think even with most of the people rumored to be back for a 4th time, they haven't been back on tv in so long they are great.

The issue here is they put off a returnee season for so long they've created a massive backlog. Hopefully for some of the people cut late for this season, they give them a bone by making 51/52 or 53 a returnee.
