TV: Survivor 48

Kyle and Kamila need to save this season because this is getting rough.
I don't really get this comment. Like clearly there's a big majority alliance right now, but as we saw this episode there is obviously huge cracks in that alliance. And so far ppl like Sai and Chrissy are making it real easy on the alliance by being very unlikable and making themselves easy targets.

That alliance isn't going to last much more. It's a season of duos. David+Mary, Joe+Eva, Kyle+Kamilla. I don't think that big alliance survives next ep, doubt they'll all agree on an easy vote like Star. If Kyle+Kamilla can gather the left overs Mitch+Star it will be Shauhin who will decide the course of the game, IMO.

I enjoyed this episode.

Literally, everyone in that individual challenge had a set of balls.

I'll be here all week at the Starlight Lounge. Don't forget to tip your servers and a reminder, veal is on special tonight.

So, the producers put a note directly in front of Eva, and in her side of a bowl, and that's supposed to be fair? That's not fair. That's fixed.

I thought Chrissy was nuts, but the more she talked at Tribal Council, the more I respected her. She told what everyone before her has been afraid to say -- the truth. Maybe what she said was ill-advised, but she didn't give a f***. She was brave. I respect that. Stick to your morals even when you think that might hurt you.

What did Chrissy say to Probst at the very end?

There's a new horse challenging for the lead. Kamilla is now in my top three with Joe and Eva. I'm reading that some of you don't like her, but I haven't seen anything that makes me feel the same way.

Fee Waybill is still dead last and has virtually no chance of moving up.

I am as close to 100% sure as I can be that the note Eva found was intended for the winner of the challenge

David has been a breath of fresh air. Of course Kamilla lambastes him, Joe, and Eva for being physical. Her whining about physical players is why Survivor has been awful since the turn of the '20s.

The 20's took a turn because after season 20 production got lazy. They recruited either the biggest possible shit heads or airheads so long as you had a cast full of eye candy that fought over nonsense or could be counted on to quit at the most interesting time.

Kamilla is just a consequence of 80% of male contestants being bunch of white collar nerds who play Survivor with a calculator. Who can't be counted on to win anything physical except for a puzzle he replicated on his 3D printer last summer and has spent 100 hours practicing. She wants everyone to lay down and die while she casts spells in the shadows and is mad the game won't do what she wants. It's pure entitlement

David is what you get when production gives a shit beyond a feel good story or Survivor's 10th retelling of the revenge of the nerds

No, I mean the 2020s. Season 20 to 38 were all great for me; better than anything from 39 (aside from 40) until present.

It's not even that I don't like her, I just find her kind of boring and don't think she impacts the game as much as the edit wants to imply.

What about her is it that you like? Genuinely curious. I find her moderately annoying, but not Sai levels of annoying or anything like that.

I’m not liking this season that much either.

I don’t find any of these players to be that good.

Kamilla had no real agency in that vote, and it seems like she’s in hot water until this alliance breaks up. They’re editing it different this season, so it’s harder to figure out what’s really happening sometimes, but it seemed very lucky for her that she remained after that vote.

Kyle seemed totally whiny and bad at convincing people to keep Kamilla. He got his way, but I didn’t find his methods impressive at all.

David clearly lost there. The way they edited it made it seem like he had all the numbers, yet it didn’t go his way somehow?

I’m not saying I hate the editing this season, but it’s just different and now we’re missing key parts to some of these votes that makes it hard to figure out what’s going on sometimes.

these two paragraphs bothered me. First one, they don't tell the contestants where to sit at the rewards. So obviously not fixed.

Second one, terrible advice. If you go on one of these shows under no circumstances should you stick to your morals at the possible expense of hurting your game. Terrible advice.

What moves have they even made? Maybe I zoned out and missed because they’re so boring.
when they were on the same tribe the secretly worked together to completely change the vote one ep and even planted a fake story. Don't remember the details, but that happened.

And then last ep Kyle successfully changed the vote off Kamila (although the editing didn't show it well).

And they've managed to be the only people in the game who have a secret F2 alliance.

Who else is even close to that this season in terms of gameplay?

It's really simple. I just think she's a nice person who would never want to hurt anyone. I just find her easy to root for because she's never given me any reason not to.

I don’t find either of those two interesting or particularly good at anything.
I don't really find them particularly interesting either, but as of this point they're doing pretty well playing under the radar and shifting some votes. David is the only one who seems to have any idea that they're working together, but he seems to be going a bit loco, so I'm not sure how much his hunch is going to be taken seriously.

Kyle getting them to switch the vote off of Kamilla was a heck of a swing, I think David's erratic behavior may have shielded Kyle a bit from getting too much suspicion.

How could the production team know where Eva was going to sit at the reward or who would grab each individual tortilla chip to find the clue? They hide some time of clue or advantage at merge and reward meals almost every time, whoever finds it finds it.

Chrissy played her hand a bit too hard, but she made a bit of an ass of herself. Big difference between bravery and stupidity and I think she stepped over the line. Seemed like she cared more about popping off than actually using her point to shift the vote. She came off to me like just another older player who doesn't have any actual understanding of how to strategize and play the game. Obviously it's easier from the couch, so I'll reserve too much judgment.

David, on the other hand, didn't do himself any favors either by popping off at the mouth either. If he knew where the votes were going and they had a strong alliance there's no need to continue to rock the boat. He's getting way too big for his britches I think and he's going to implode this alpha male alliance.

I know they had a bit of a dust-up over the vote, but it seemed like Kyle won out because he kept his cool. Seems like David is going off the track a bit. Won't be surprised to see people in this alliance start dropping off due to his ego growing.

I wonder how much of the conversation they cut out after the argument because it seemed pretty united to vote Chrissy by the time the vote came.

Good grief not again.

Servers replenish the food as the contestants wolf it down, right? So, obviously, you overlooked something — a server could have intentionally placed the bowl in front of Eva.

There was a spy among us!

We've all seen contestants who were favoured in some way before; who better than a pretty autistic girl on Survivor 48: Woke Island?

Yes, I am a cynic when it comes to Survivor.

For your second paragraph, let's first recap what I said:

I thought Chrissy was nuts, but the more she talked at Tribal Council, the more I respected her. She told what everyone before her has been afraid to say -- the truth. Maybe what she said was ill-advised, but she didn't give a f***. She was brave. I respect that. Stick to your morals even when you think that might hurt you.

Your parsing is killing me. That was general advice about all circumstances in life. Unless you think it's wrong for one to stick to their morals. Was it good advice as applied to Survivor? I would think not, and I acknowledged that when I said, "Maybe what she said was ill-advised." It was ill-advised for anyone who wants to win the game. But do I admire her for saying f*** it and speaking her mind? Hell yeah.

I just addressed your first point in a reply to Shakes.

Chrissy, fair points on your behalf. My point about her was that she just got to where she was frustrated and decided to show her hand and speak up. The fact that she did this while probably knowing it could cost her the game speaks to a moral integrity.

I don't know if and when the servers replenished the bowl of chips or when she even found it.

Without some kind of actual proof or someone blowing the whistle I'm not sure I can jump on the bandwagon and say that they definitely rigged it for Eva lol. Not saying it's completely impossible, but I think that's a bit of a stretch to just assume as true.

First paragraph: really, you sure about that? Seems to me like you're just throwing crap at the wall to see what will stick that supports your conspiracy theory. I've never seen any proof that the food is replenished during a challenge. And also no proof that a new bowl with a hidden scroll was added to a meal AFTER the contestants already sat down.

Second paragraph: yes I think it is 100% wrong to stick to your moral high horse while playing Survivor. Easy for you to admire her for sabotaging her own game, but I guarantee anyone who spends the time and effort it takes get casted and then the personal life/work life sacrifice of a month to film the show is going to spend the rest of their lives regretting the choice to sink their own game to take a moral stand.

I've seen the food and drinks replenished before.

This thread is no longer fun, which is my cue to leave.

Parse that.
