No surprises for me, I predicted it all :sarcasm:

The big surprises for me would have to be:
- Kostka playing as much as he is and as well as he is
- the overall commitment to preventing goals (hopefully this continues)
- No even strength goals yet
- Komisarek making a case to not be bought out (which is great since he is exactly the kind of defenseman we need at this point in time)

I'm not worried about KGM line.

They always start slow and takes a bit of time for them to get going.

Surprises..
Last nights game..with about 2 minutes left...Bozak won what seemed to be about 6 important draws in a row..has also been playing great

Kadri - Actually getting a chance..and looking good!

^^^Usually Players only do those things after we trade them..not after only rumours of a trade haha

Kostka..arguably our best dman through 2 games

Kessel and Kadri are both back checking consistently.
Bozak has actually looks like a 1C - very impressed with him.
Grabo/Kule/Mac has been invisible.

Kadri and Kessel have been back checking.

I was really surprised by Kadri's defensive game last night. He was doing really well to takeaway the puck and clear it from the zone.

Komarov looks good so far - he's hitting hard and finishing all his checks.
Kadri has been in the right place at the right time several times.

JvR looks lost half the time, but I think he'll get his legs back soon.

Kostka has played well even though the nerves got to him at the end of last night's game - he fanned on like 4 shots lol including that assist on kadri's goal.

Kessel hasn't lost his legs (damn he skates fast).
he was in "the right spot" for last nights goal because he worked his ass off to get there. what were you watching?

don't think anyone saw Kostka playing as much as he has the first couple of games; should be a surprise to everyone

Go support another team with that attitude. Ridiculous, he's been bad for 3 years? And the 2nd line hasn't done anything?Do you even watch the games? Clearly you don't , go check out his stats , maybe you expected him to be Kovalchuk but you need to maintain your expectations of the guy. You don't know how to count, sorry

There are just some people who should not watch sports

Ya 7 thats all!! Buddy if you watch the games then I would take you serious but obviously your locked in. That 2nd line isnt doing anything beside Grabo skating around trying to get opportunities. Mac and Kule are not doing anything to produce. So maybe you should try counting again.

I didn't say his "right place in the right time" was by luck or chance did I? Maybe I should have made it clearer lol - I'm a Kadri fan, so don't hate so fast

This thread needs more Bozak in it.

He's been great. Bozak and Kessel's chemistry >

I'm surprised that Grabovski and Kulemin have not started out better. I guess the benefit of playing well in the KHL was overestimated. For one, you get more time on the larger ice surface, that extra split second alone will require you to re-adjust to the NHL. For another, Grabovski played wing and both of them played with super high end linemates.

Pleasant surprises...

1-Kostka (about time the Leafs got a little lucky on a prospect, hopefully keeps it up)
2-Phanuef (actually looks like a defenceman:handclap:)
3-Komisaruk (didn't even notice him except for 1 hit...awesome:))
4-4th line (I really like this 4th line...truculence and testosterone:yo:...all 3 look good)
5-Kadri (good finisher)
6-Komarov (certainly doesn't look out of place)
7-Bozak (looking solid)
8-Lupul and Kessel (look fine, just need a break)

9-Tim Connelly (biggest surprise-a management team that has the balls to "correct" a problem:))

Lots of Surprises!

1) Scrivens started both games
I figured it would have been 1 start for Luongo, 1 for Reimer (if not 2 for Luongo) at this point . . . and even without the acquisition of a proven starter, that Reimer would have started at least one game by now.

2) Noticeably better defensive structure
I was avidly hoping for this, and sort of predicted it, but . . . it is really nice to see it actually happen, and glad that many will be surprised by it.

3) Kadri is not only in starting line-up, but looks like the best forward
Nothing much else to say here, other than that the kid looks great, and if he keeps this up he is going to be moving up/getting more minutes! Hope he keeps it up.

4) Mike Kostka makes line-up . . . and plays well.
Decently, at least . . . clearly he is the biggest surprise insertion into the line-up, and he certainly hasn't looked like an AHL 7th defenceman at all. Solid NHL start, keep it up!

5) Disappointed by Grabovski/Kulemin start
This is not the biggest of deals, but . . . with their great KHL play, I did expect to see Grabo and Kuli reunited to be a fantastic, mid-season form line combo that would propel us forth the first few games. Hasn't happened that way . . . meh!

Kostka - Seems competent with the puck and makes sound decisions, most of the time anyway. Logging solid minutes.

Kadri - Stands out from the rest of the pack, hands down. The only one who seems to be able to create offensive chances with his quickness, puck handling ability, and smart positioning. I'd say that whether or not he's fit for the rigors of the NHL is still up for debate. Time will tell.

Kulemin - One would think his time in the KHL and with Malkin would give him at least some spark back, but I haven't seen much to cheer about yet. I'm still hopeful.

I didn't say his "right place in the right time" was by luck or chance did I? Maybe I should have made it clearer lol - I'm a Kadri fan, so don't hate so fast
usually implied if someone is "in the right spot at the right time" it is by chance more than design. he wasn't in the right spot for the goal last night; he took himself to the right spot to get it.

and why would what ever you say make me a hater?
