I was too close to crazy town this year. I got obsessed with eating blueberry turnovers on game days even though they made me want to puke. The few times I missed eating them the Kings lost. I would get them from the same place, but they didn't always have the blueberry flavor. I tried getting other flavors and stuffing them with blueberries, but it only worked part of the time. I didn't do it before Game 5 because I needed to get my sanity back and it all worked out well. However my GF said if they lost I had to eat two for Game 6 to make up for it, lol.

I also wore the same shirt and hat on game day and switched into my Gaborik jersey shirt for the actual games. I guess it worked out pretty well. I also got superstitious with the mute button. Whenever I felt like the Rags looked like they were about to score, I muted it. You can thank me for making Nash miss the net in OT last night. I got that mother****er pretty good, eh?

Oh and pretty sure I got the diabeetus now. lol

I wore the same old chevy logo T-shirt underneath a button up every game day, and right before the game started, I put on a Mitchell and Ness hat my girlfriend's parents got me for xmas last year. TMI, I may need to throw the T-shirt out, it reeks and the armpits are crusty :shakehead

Also TMI, but I have a teal colored pair of underwear that I refused to wear during the Sharks series even if it was my only clean pair. Same goes for my red underwear during the Blackhawks series.

Essentially I used up a lot of laundry quarters during these playoffs.

Exact opposite of many people here with wearing their stuff on game days. If I am not going to the game that day I refuse to wear anything hockey related(barring gear if I played that day).

If time/situation allowed I would miss a part of the game...near perfect record if I missed a few minutes of game action.

Finally discovered my lucky jersey (Game 2 NY) after not being at a win in 5 or 6 games I had attended since Game 3 vs VAN in 2012, wore it again and same attire for Game 5, all clean thankfully.

If watching at home have to have the GDT open and only a few other site allowed.

What can I say goalies are crazy:laugh:

I have a rookie year purple and black home Kopitar jersey that I got in 2007 (pre-A) that is undefeated to this day.

I very rarely wear it because it holds deep and ancient magicks and you gotta respect that.

Have brought it out twice in the last two years - game six against NJ in 2012, and game seven against the Hawks in 2014.

Respect.

This year it was jalapeno cornbread and Richard Wagner operas (Parsifal in particular)... When I missed one or the other...we lost... When I ran out of jalapenos and went with regular cornbread...we lost... We were 16-0 when both were in full force and 0-10 when something went haywire...

Even my chili didn't bring THAT good of luck...

You all know that .gif I post on the PGTs after every playoff win. (Maybe not every one of them, usually because I can't get to a computer to post it) but I started posting it during 2012 playoffs and i've been posting it ever since.

rnd-rudy.gif

He looks familiar, but I can't put a name to the face. Who is it?

By the way, I love seeing it every time. :)

Charles S. Dutton. And the gif was from the movie, Rudy.

I always get up and watch the games in the morning before going to work. I noticed that if I caught up with the game, watching it live we always lost. So I had to manage my time to not catching it live. I remember one of the games against Blackhawks I couldn't sleep but I refused to get out of bed until I was supposed to get up  and that was tough just laying there for two hours, BUT I WAS STANDING MY GROUND  what an idiot!

Then in the Finals when Rangers won game 4 I felt that "spell" was broken so it was okay to watch game 5 live and I was right. But I don't know why but between OT's in game 5 I suddenly got this idea when walking up and down my house that I should avoid entering the Kitchen. WTF?? So I didn't.

I'm 47 and to doing these things and believe they have any impact on a game played on the other side of the planet by players I never met in person ..I should be embarrassed of myself and will not tell anybody else than other fans doing the same. A logic person knows that there is no connection between the two.

But you just don't dare to play with destiny.

If I arrive late for the game and nhl.com says we are winning I won't find a stream. If we are down a goal or two I'd find a stream. I hugged a rally towel most nights before bed. I made a jinxing thread on the Mainboards about the Blackhawks being unbeatable

Wow. It's awesome to know that I am not the only crazy one. :)

Early in the run my wife told some other soccer mom's about the whole Kings shirt to bed. Last weekend I bumped into one of these moms and she asked me if my wife was still wearing the shirt. I said "hell yeah".

Her King's shirt is legend around these parts now.

Well done folks! I think we all helped will the Kings to win the Cup.:D

Culinary superstitions can ruin a food you love. Especially with a playoff run of record setting length.

Good work on the mute button, although it was Nash...... :naughty:

the only superstition that worked was the "my team please win..." post by OllieWorks and the other guy (sorry i always forget your name - forgive me lol)

i think we lost once when that was posted...it unfortunately stopped after that lost, but miraculously enough it came back once more for Game 7 vs Chicago...and the rest is history

I wore the give away 2012 Stanley Cup ring all day on elimination games and game 5 vs Rags ( which was kind of a must win game)
Just doing my part

grew a beard (thats a no brainer)
only drank coffee from my Kings mug on game days
wore the same shirt every game day, only washing it after losses and spills
got each of my coworkers to say "go kings" at least once on game days

Wore the jersey I wore for all of the 2012 run for the first three games of round 1. Didn't wear it for the rest of the playoffs. The hockey gods were trying to tell me "This ain't no 2012 run".

I had other superstitions throughout, but that was the main one.

playoff goatee

same t-shirt during games

sitting in the same chair, a recliner that works perfectly, but using an footstool instead

cell phone resting on my chest in case my dad texted me

never reading anything about the playoffs

I also have a small stuffed toy that my son won in a claw machine, a bull whose "skin" is plastered with dollar signs (his name is Dollar Bull), who has sat on top of the back of my couch during each of the past three post seasons

I moved into my current apartment in April of 2012 and got my cable installed the day before Game 1 of the Vancouver series, so I guess I should stay here :)

listening to certain songs on my iPod either on my way to work or home (depending on the start time of the game). Now, it would be cheating to just create a folder with these songs on it so I would have to skip through songs to get to the right ones, which was a challenge on some nights

going to a Kings game that resulted in a 3-0 loss and what I deem to be the Kings' worst performance if the season both in 2012 and 2014 (I was at the Dodger Stadium game, and I was in Boston for the game after Terry Murray was fired. Down on the glass during warmups I remember looking at the players' faces and thinking that I had never seen a group of athletes simultaneously looking confused and beaten like those guys did that night).

Following a routine for washing my hands, especially at work

my mini Labbatt's Kings Stanley Cup which is right above my head as I type this with a lacrosse ball resting in the bowl

my son even wore his Martin Brodeur t-shirt during every game

making sure my front and back doors were locked

Damn, I'm crazier than I thought...
