Hey guys, I always wondered why the Ducks played so many Sunday night games. It's been going on for as long as I can remember. Is it some deal with the arena or Prime Ticket? Would love to know. Thanks!

Probably scheduling factor. When teams come into southern cal, they play the Kings and Ducks. You can't schedule the game at the same time. But a part of me, now this is just speculation, that Disney being the initial owner, probably likened a 5pm Sunday evening game.

So the Kings get Saturday night and Ducks Sundays. Although, I thought that schedule changed a bit last season.

I understand it's a scheduling factor as evidenced by how many more Sunday night games the Ducks have compared to anyone else in the league.

The Disney angle is an interesting idea and the west coast road trip stuff is some what reasonable. Curious what others have to say.

I think we have better attendance. Traffic in OC is bad on weekdays so the stadium is typically half empty during the 1st period.

Additionally, sunday 5 pm is a lot more kid friendly start time than weekdays at 7.

It is pretty sad the duck's attendance despite how good of the organization has been the last 10 years (SC Final, SC, and consistently one of the elite teams in the league).

It's a shame.

I think our original scheduling had more to do with the Kings than the Ducks. They would have had priority scheduling over us and I would think Saturdays are more favorable than Sundays. Remember they had to agree to us being in their market and Disney had to pay them for it.

IIRC, when the Ducks came into the league, the Kings already played Tue, Thur, and Sat night home games. That left the Ducks with the other days to play. Sunday games at 5:00 were not invented by the Ducks. Other teams in other sports were already doing it. In SoCal it worked well because even in the winter people go out on the weekends and this would allow for a day out and still time to take in a game. The timing also works well for adults who have to work on Monday.

I'd be curious how attendance, by day of week, has compared over the years for the Ducks.
