He was literally answering a specific question that has nothing to do with "talking up" anyone. The question was literally which player physically developed the most since last season. If that was the answer, then that was the answer.
I'm confused by why you're taking issue with this. Weatherby is older, he should perform better as he's more physically developed.

Are you really confused why some people have no idea why you keep trying to bring up Weatherby's play, when DWjr never said anything about that in the question he answered?
I’m confused why people care this much. It was just an observation about the prospect because he was mentioned in an interview with DW Jr. I wasn’t analyzing the quote, I was making a statement about the player and his projection regardless of what was said, but because he was brought up. That’s all there is to it. Again, I find this very weird.

I brought it up because I had no idea why DW Jr would indicate a player's body was better than a scouts body. The joke totally wooshed me to the point I was like "WTF is this guy talking about?" so I asked about it. Then I got the joke once explained... Then I was like "HAR HAR, water is wet, super f***ing funny..."

Because you made it about whether he was a good prospect or not... Not sure how you're missing the issue unless someone hacked your account and wrote this:
"I understand talking up your players but Weatherby is almost 24 and has no history of dominant play relative to players his own age. His height and weight have little to no bearing on his ability to play at the highest level. If he gets an NHL contract it has a very low chance of being successful. Now, if they’re trying to say he looks good physically for a scout, yes that’s probably true. I have an easier time seeing him as a scout than an NHL player."

Gotta have at least a few players who are taller than 5"10" and can throw a hit on this team of smurfs and cream puffs.
Hitting in today's NHL is overrated. Regardless of size, can you contribute offensively? Play responsible defensively and execute the details BB asks? I wouldn't care if we had nothing but a bunch of 5'6 guys. If they play smart hockey, I'm happy. Hitting when and where it counts is the objective. Weatherby is a big body but if that's all he's good for he'll have a nice long career...in the minors.

No, it is not over rated. Teams that win in the playoffs still have guys who hit. Tampa's line with Goodrow was instrumental in their success in back to back championships. Line was short on skill but high on energy and physical play. Not saying you need a team of 6'5" bangers but you need guys who play physical to go with the high skill players. It's a tale as old as time in the NHL and despite the changes to the league, that hasn't changed very much. As far as Wheatherby, clearly the team thinks he's more than just a banger. That size and weight along with being a decent skater could make him an effective bottom 6 forward. We don't even know if he has a real shot at the NHL yet. Let's not get anyones panties in a bunch over this just yet.

My comment was more in reference to your comment about this team needing a guy taller than 5'10 who could throw a hit. I realize playing a physical brand of hockey is effective. Weatherby will need to be more than a big body who can hit was my general point. He seems to skate well and if his shot and hockey sense translates then great. Thumbs up.

The way I think about it, a diminutive player with high-end skills could be a high-end NHLer, but a bruising giant with AHL skills probably is nothing more than a fourth-liner.

My point still stands. Also the Sharks have a ton of forward prospects who are small and not known for their physical play. In a year or 2 the team is looking like the characters from the Hobbit comparatively. Are the Penguins the only small team to win it all in the last decade? Malkin and Kessel are big so I guess they weren't tiny either. Their 4th line had some size if I remember correctly.

Wheatherby doesn't need to be the 2nd coming of Lindros, he needs to be a 4th liner who doesn't get caved IMO. Considering some of the 4th liners this team has thrown out there over the last couple years the bar isn't all that high.

So you’re saying that when someone responds to a post they must only address what is being quoted and cannot express any opinions or use the quoted information to discuss other aspects of the situation? This isn’t even worth discussing.

they also needed a hornquist that can throw a dirty knee and take out your opponent's top line wing

Yes. To do otherwise is known as going off-topic.
It is also a bad debate technique.
