Should he be? Djurgården has developed and put effort into this guy since he was a little kid and then some team gets his rights just because it was their pick, and they end up moving him over with only a few days of notice during preseason. That's losing one of the teams top 6 wingers just like that.

But the fact that the coach found it out like that has probably more to do with Djurgårdens GM than anything else

I don't know if you can tell by my undertone, but as a fan of Djurgården I'm quite pissed by how all of this works

Also Barry Smith if obviously used to be on the other end of this, maybe a reality check for him
Smith should have known this, he worked in the NHL for many years for competitive teams. If he's pissy about it obviously that's his own fault.

I think it's more that he is upset about the sudden move to NA. He will be showered with top minutes and responsibility in Sweden, so not only would he be a top player for the team, but it would be great for his development.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. It’s still very possible that Eklund returns to Sweden to play this year. So many things have to go right for him to stay in NA this year. Or perhaps several things have to go wrong with the Sharks to warrant them wasting a year of valuable development. Either way, it’s a long shot. Unless of course he lights up camp and makes it impossible for the team to send him away, which I don’t think is going to happen no matter how good he is considering there is a learning curve jumping into the NHL.

The best place for his development would be legitimate top line minutes in the AHL if the idea is to get him as good as possible as soon as possible. It's a lot more dicey when you take into account the particulars for our organization and how they actually coach at that level. Playing in Sweden only delays the start of actual development towards playing for the Sharks due to the big ice and less physical nature of the game there as well as talent level.

I get that but honestly it should have been expected if they watched the Sharks brass presser on draft day. Seemed like DWjr had already made plans for him to be a Shark this coming season.

I think the thing that likely holds him back is physically. He's short and light and he may need to put on some girth to withstand the rigors of the NHL and 210lb defensemen that he can't out skate. Let's see how he looks against a big body like Burns.

Eklund will be eaten alive. I meant live.

I hope this ages bad, and that fast.

Alex Young there?

Interested in any thoughts on how he and Ibragimov look.
I'm not high on Ibragimov at all. Young is interesting but both these guys are long-term projects if they are to have a career in the NHL at all.

Coe doesn't really play like a bruiser though IIRC
He doesn’t play like a “Bruiser”, but he doesn’t play a small man’s game. He’s not going to be the next Tom Wilson, but I guess he plays similar physically as Pavs did. Doesn’t initiate contact often, but plays the body and goes to the greasy areas.
