Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

I will not pretend to know what the weather was like in that region yesterday; but I can say for fact that weather varies within a few kms. To me, their winter weather was wicked; and passenger vehicles passing through that corridor do not all have appropriate tires.
Winter weather can vary within kms but winters are never the same every year. Toronto shovelled twice last winter season and this year they couldn't put the shovel down.

* Meant to say winters are never the same*

Yeah, blankets of snow off Georgian Bay happens; freezing rain off the east end of Lake Ontario happens; and I Loveallsports being miserable and pissy after a wolves loss happens.

Not true - the only section mostly empty was the fronts end in 1st and 3rd. While it was disappointing there was a massive ticket master issue and there was almost 3600 there
Probably around there but the ice storm definitely scared some people away.

Will be interesting to see if people come if it’s real bad out for a Sunday 2 o’clock game

I wasn't too far from Kingston. It was rain not freezing rain.
Correct. Wasn’t freezing rain until after game but weather network spooked people into thinking it would be bad early on and into the night. I got home around 10:15 and it was starting around then.

Has been doing it all day here since. Roads bad and supposed to go until Sunday afternoon with a possible break this afternoon. Can get up to 25mm of ice this weekend. I’m sure kids will have buses cancelled on Monday cause that’s all they do nowadays

The wolves didn't play a poor game last night. Defensively they looked better than recent games but generating chances is their biggest achilles heal. Every team has injuries. NB last night 3 goals on 33 shots against the top seed. Wolves 1 goal on 21 shots .
And most of the shots came third period too.

I hit a nerve I see. Im far from pissy after last night's loss. I get more ticked by a FIVE loss. Nice try tho. Feel free to go back to other teams threads.

Quick question for all WOLVES posters: With what I would call a not so great game #1, does anyone who was there or watched on TV think we can’t beat the Fronts when we play a solid 60?
As you know, I’m the eternal optimist and I think we can make this a tight series.
Had we played our A game and lost 4-1 with an empty net goal I wouldn’t be authoring this but I truly believe we can beat K-Town.
Thoughts..

Yeah, Tuesday looks okay at least. Not sure when the teams will head up north but at least we should be good here for the game.

With a full and healthy lineup maybe but it’s a real stretch now, especially if last night was any indication. Where is the secondary scoring? Pharand, Coughlan etc

With Musty sore and without Delic, no.

Secondary scoring gets smothered when the primary scoring is absent
Depth is the biggest factor in the series. Fronts are full of it and wolves besides the top 6f and top 6d are weak.

If Krawchuck plays like he did last night though he could steal a game.

True. Pretty sure your colour man called the Fronts the deepest team he’s seen while Wolves weren’t expected to be loaded with depth this season anyway, especially up front. Gotta hope somehow things are different in the old barn to make a bit of a series out of it.

The last six games plus yesterday, our Wolves have not scored
more than two goals in a game, including their 2-1 victory over Peterborough.
Defensively, they're really not giving up much, but Walton, Mews, Coughlin, and Pharand have got to step up, and Villy has to stay out of the penalty box if we are going to have any chance.
Musty can be a game breaker, all by himself if he plays.
As bad as we played last night, Kingston didn't really impress me, and who knows, if we had gotten the lead early, Walton's crossbar, and Pharand's, whatever that was, it could have been a very different game.
I think we all know that they are capable, we've seen it, but for whatever reason, we never know which team is going to show up, the team that won five in a row, or the one that has one win in it's last seven......
🐺Go Wolves Go!!!🐺

Actually other than their first line I wasn’t especially impressed either.
As has been said though Villy has to pull his head out of his posterior and stay out of the penalty box. Likely zero chance otherwise.

Yeah, but it’s hard to do it with so many guy’s missing man, and not fourth line guys. Delic, Musty, Robert’s and Blonda man it gets kinda hard to overcome after a while. I thought Chucky did very well maybe be surprised on the one shot but other than that played excellent gave us a chance but we couldn’t generate much other a couple posts and missed open net.
To me, we need a couple bodies back and we definitely have to generate more than we did tonight and avoid the stupid penalties.
I agree, but they have to come out on Sunday better than they did yesterday even if they are missing key pieces. Guys have to step up. And if they don’t, then they might just get swept. I believe in them though. Let’s get the split boys!

Yep. They were calling for the weather Friday night but it didn't start until early Saturday morning and low and behold... 15 accidents between Kingston and Napanee corridor early this morning causing closures. A few were bad transport accidents. It's actually a thing here that needs to be taken seriously. I was one of the ones complaining most about the crowd on Kingston site but didn't realize how bad the storm was going to be. It just hit late. Several areas and surrounding communities without power this evening and many stores and restaurants are closed. Hopefully it clears up for tomorrow but showing that it will be all night and then on and off again tomorrow. The game will likely go no matter the weather as Sudbury is already here but attendance might be brutal again which is unfortunate.

Also. If I'm a wolves fan I would be questioning where Mews was at last night. I don't generally post on other teams forums but excited about these playoffs this year. Whenever we played him when he was with Ottawa he was a thorn in our side offensively and being a pest at times. I can barely recall any plays he made last night. You gave up a lot for him to be invisible in a playoff game. Just an observation from a Fronts fan. I hope he doesn't read this and wake up. Lol.

Well i mean for the first time this season we didn't give up 6+ goals to them, there's that.

We had to score 10 the game we won against them. 1st game against them we scored 2 and gave up 7.

Can't expect to score at that rate every game in the playoffs.

Ice storm has been the worst in this area since 1998. Trees down everywhere with extensive damage, several accidents, and power outages throughout the region still. Attendance may definitely be an issue today unfortunately.

This is just how he's been most games in the last month. Invisible is actually best case scenario, usually when he's being noticed it's for defensive breakdowns. To end the season he was pointless in 8 of 13 games.

I think Mews should have remained playing forward as he did in his younger days. He is 3rd in OHL scoring for defenseman but is a -14. His defensive game has always been questionable.

On the other hand I wish you guys could get Musty and Kocha Delic back in your lineup to make the series much more interesting.
