Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Great now instead of entering the season with 2 import slots unfilled, they'll go with 3. If this comes to fruition it's going to be a huge benefit for the London, Kitchener, even the Barries who can constantly pull in top tier imports.

Another reason why the GM has to be replaced if this comes into place next season. His track record supports it, Davorsky has nothing to do with a feather in his cap, it was a St Louis decision beacause of his lack of ice time.

I agree only import since I have been a season ticket holder that can be credited to him alone is Chromiak. My first season with season tickets was UPL so 2017-18?

Yes St.Louis like all NHL teams with drafted players make choices on where they play to further the player’s development. But before Dvorsky’s plane ticket was bought to come to Sudbury he had to be selected by a GM in the import draft. From memory, many other GMs passed Dvorsky over before being picked by Paps. At the time his selection was considered a home run swing. But like UPL Paps took the swing. I’m guessing picking Import players is the easy part, building relationships with those players and their families and representatives is the hard part. I’m guessing if Chovan gets picked by either Buffalo or St. Louis the Wolves have a better chance of securing their services…

Most Gms don’t consider landing a quality euro a home run swing, they do there homework, and weigh the chances of the player reporting. In my opinion our GM has failed miserably.

The whole Import reporting issue has become much more difficult league wide over the past 5 years. I’d say we’ve done ok. Dvorsky was a second round selection by the Wolves so lots of GMs/teams didn’t have the wherewithal to select him prior.
Let’s put all this negative talk aside until after the playoffs and see what our Wolfers can do. Some posters (not many) are calling Wolves in 6 or 7. Should be fun.

I would think our chances greatly improve if we get Musty back, without him I think we may be in for a short series.

It would but, if the wolves have these defensive break downs which we've seen, it won't matter. Have to give up less then 4 goals to have a chance imo.

Sounds like Musty is still a Game 1 possibility but at least Clayton, Chitter, and Villy are all back.
I think forum posts regarding Delic are likely correct.... sounds like he is not close to returning yet.

Musty will certainly be a target, we need players to step up and make a statement if he is constantly receiving cheap shots. Street has to do what he was signed to do.

Doubt Street is in the lineup. Regardless, wolves should have plenty of team toughness between Coughlan, Pharand, Clayton, Villeneuve, Roberts and others.

Now that we know the draft order and that day one we draft 11, 33 and 38.

It looks unlikely that Chitironi falls to us at 11 when SSM can take him at 7 or North Bay does it at 6 for the comp pick plus picks from SSM.

Who or what would you want from SSM for Hudson?
