Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Mews rumoured to go to College, he might lose that offer the way he plays defensively.
If he's as dumb in the books as he is on the ice, he won't be able to keep up the grades to play NCAA.

Some posters wants Paps fired. We make bad trades with Brantford. No one knows the health status of Musty. Everyone under estimates the Wolves. Frontsfanforever is gonna be a pain in the ass for the next two weeks!
You just hate when someone else is right and you are wrong!

Nobody’s underestimating the wolves. Most have fronts in 6 or 7. Underestimating the wolves would be a 4 game sweep. You guys are good this year but won’t be good enough.

Kind of the story with both Kingston and Sudbury franchises to date. And yes I’m saying the fronts wont win either this year lol.

Trying to have a bit of fun in a not so fun situation.
I guess what was most disappointing today was that all four goals were a direct cause of 2 DMen who are starters and two turn overs by so called top 6 forwards…
Really worried about our defence in general going into the postseason. Everyone wants to score, but not defend

Last game of the season doesn’t really matter anyways. Lots of teams resting players and some teams like Brampton playing everyone haha

Congrats to Dalibor Dvorsky making his NHL debut tonight for the Blues.

Yes, the same Dalibor Dvorsky that was drafted/recruited by our GM, the same GM we want to fire into the sun. Thanks Paps for bringing him to the Wolves, he was a pleasure to watch last season.
But how much was it really him and not St Louis saying hey you are getting next to no minutes, how about you come to North America, Sudbury drafted you and are predicted to be a serious contender, you will get top minutes and get accustomed to the North American game?

The fact that he was forced i repeat FORCED to trade Chromiak because Dvorksi came over late suggested in itself Paps had no clue he was coming over until St Louis got involved.

None of us know what the conversations were around that and UPL. His top 2 import moves. This season he couldn't convince either of our imports draftees to come over. The Chromiak debacle will also have an impact on how imports look at the team.

Recruiting Chromiak was probably his biggest coup as he brought him over as a 16 year old that is 100% Paps. Lopanen(sp?), UPL, Dvorski, Vondras were all brought over after being drafted.

At the end of the day there is more to building a team than the imports. In goaltending he has relied on draft Imports, late round/U18 goalies or trading assets for them. Same goes for our defence when healthy, 1 of them just 1 of them is drafted by us, well used multiple assets in picks and other players to building out our D.

McCoy for Taylor, 1x 3rd
DeAngelis and O'Dell for C. Walton, 2x 2nds, 1x 3rd, 1x 6th and 1x 15th
Roberts for 2x 2nds and 2x 3rds
Ewels from the Collins, Mania, Konyen trade.
Mews for Jackson, 2x 2nds, 2x 3rds, 1x 5th the 3 conditionals.

That is alot of assets out the door because he didnt build this defence. Do you need to make trades to bolster areas of the team yes but the entire D except for Blonda we had to spend assets on.

I don’t disagree. No one knows the amount of time it takes to recruit these import players to come to Sudbury. Without knowing, I’d say it’s considerable. I’m not yet worried about our last 2 imports picks not coming this season, but hoping they do show next season.
When you good at accumulating assets and draft picks you are allowed to spend them. Paps traditionally spends at the deadline which is costly. I agree with Wolfman Jack, trades should be earlier in season and supplement at deadline (cheaper this way).

Well likes like we now have a good young D coming..

Can you put together the potential roster next season. I know it's not going to be pretty

It's something I'm working on it's rough, but this is the list I have of players that played the season and may be available to the team next year.

That said not using draft picks or accounting for players leaving of NCAA its likely something like

Walton - Villy - Nemec
Chovan- Pharand - Coughlan
Henderson - Clayton - Chitironi
Doucet - Dean - Nadja
Booth - Ryan

Mews - O'Dell
Blonda - Smith
Wreggit - Roberts/Ewels
Kearns

Marshall
Beites/Chartier

Who is Nemec?

Thanks for doing this. I appreciate the time it takes.

Played 10:40 TOI - nothing to note. Didn't watch the game, just the gamesheet afterwards.

They should absolutely find a new home for Pharhand before next season. Hes given the wolves very little this season. 4th round pick of the hawks. Highly unlikely they sign him.

Walton should be traded at some point. Recoup some picks. Villy should be named captain.

Goals scoring could def be down next season
