Listen, people who have the privilege to work in hockey are hired to be fired. It is a results driven business. I’m not defending anyone about the non-Musty trade. But if you lived in Sudbury and were a Wolves’s fan, this wasn’t a normal trade request. Without getting deep into the weeds had the player and agent handled the situation differently he’d be playing elsewhere now. But Koodos to the team for not caving in and trying to get a fair return (not a bag of pucks) at the deadline for a #1 overall player. For whatever reasons ,we will never know, (broken hand or no one wanted him) he remains a Wolf.
Not sure what Wolves fans expectations were for this season but I’ll go on record and say when we were 10 games over 500 and had the best coaching in the O, nobody was complaining about Management or the Team.
I guess that’s why they say in sports, “never get too high when you are winning or too low when you’re losing “. We were never expected to contend this season, but to compete. See what our kids can do and how the older players would develop and lead. I would say the kids have not disappointed. I agree, not trading Musty was a missed opportunity but overall it may still be the best decision and outcome for him and the team. We are a month away from playoffs, so the Wolves still have time to prove all the doubters and Insiders wrong.
