Sudbury Wolves 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

Absolutely agree. Having Ewles back is gonna help. When we get a lead the kids get more opportunities. Blonda looked good. Chitaroni looked good as well but needs to finish his grade A chances. Also limit turnovers.
The 4th line was also good. Liked Streetcar (named Tajon).
Agree. Ewles will definitely help. He’s a calm presence out there. Hope he’s back soon. Blonda looks good, but he needs to be a bit stronger when defending in front of his net. Lay them out don’t let them skate around you. Chitaroni does his thing, just needs to stop taking unnecessary penalties. Streetcar/Streetfighter gets limited amount of ice, but I’d like to see them play him a little more. I feel like he can do more than they’re letting him.

I feel bad for Marshall. I think him not playing much has affected his confidence.

This team 100% deserves what it's getting. My faith in Barney is dying, same problems every game, no fix in sight.
Changing up the lines constantly isn’t helping. Can’t build chemistry when you’re playing with different guys all the time. I know he’s trying to find the right mix, but if he hasn’t found it yet might as well trying to stick to set lines

Every game huge mistakes on the defensive side causes us to lose. Chitaroni on the 5th goal gets caught puck watching and Spence is able to take a pass in the slot and scores. A little check of his shoulder and Chitaroni will see the coverage instead 4 guys watching the Erie player behind the net.

Tonight Chitaroni over used and Henderson under used!!!

Refs with a bad sleep foot call which was a follow through on a check. No kicking motion behind the players feet. Then the holding call was horrid to put the Wolves down 2 men.

I agree call up Chartier. Can’t hurt he has some OHL experience.

Wolves walking wounded now. Lack of depth is concerning!

A legitimate second goalie at the trade deadline would have been nice, now Chucky will be called on to go all the way, should never had been put in that predicament.
During the 2021- 22 season Mitchell Weeks played in a rediculous 61 games. Jonathan Lemaire played in 12 games that season.

I’ve been talking about depth for awhile now. Depth wins you games and series. That’s if everyone is doing their job.

Not sure what you suggest regarding how the team constructs lines with Delic, Clayton, Dean and Ewles out. Furthermore, we have a couple of bottom six forwards that don’t play up in the line-up. Get the blender out and see what works..

Chitaroni always seems like the first choice to get moved up in the lineup. I don't get it, soft passes, weak shots, 0 hockey IQ defensively.
I thought Chitaroni played well this road trip but he most definitely has to be smarter with the puck and simplify his game. Gotta limit turnovers . I think the kids wanna play a fast north/south game but are influenced by the globetrotting vets to play fancy hockey beyond their capabilities.

I give our 3rd and fourth line players a lot of credit, they are trying to play above their means in situations do to a lack of a balanced lineup. The team is in a DIRE situation going forward having to rely on Chucky to play all games hoping he does not get injured or goes into a slump. It is short of criminal that a legitimate goaltender was not the major priority before the deadline approached to take some of the pressure offChucky. The same thing happened last season when Papineau’s brilliance was once again on display when he believed Vondras and Vandenberg could take us all the way. Papineau will once again go into panic mode and force the coaching staff to apply last seasons play book, and we all know how that ended up.The coaching staff will take the brunt of criticism do to the marching orders of the GM. Just doesn’t seem warranted.

This team loves taking themselves out of games. Stay out of the box!

To be fair, as an Erie STH, the refs appeared all night to hand out offsetting penalties or if they called Sudbury for a call, it seemed Erie was called a few seconds later and vice versa.

I didn't have a clear picture of the slew foot as it was on the opposite side of the rink from us, however the last 3 - 4 games in Erie the officiating has been sub-par at best.

I would let Street take Walton's spot on the Ice and let Walton have Street's spot on the bench!
At least Street would make an effort!
