I will chime in here based on the rumor of a possible Goyette return. And if so here is what I would do with my GM hat on.

-Goyette returns as an OA. Wolves keep Musty
-Wolves deal McCoy and a 3rd, 5th, to Erie for Challenger
-Wolves deal Chitaroni and Digitomasso along with a 3rd and 7th for Guo, Chernyshov
-Wolves then deal Jackson to Owen Sound for Petrovski.

Wolves line up after deadline,

Walton Delic Pharand
Musty Goyette Chernyshov(San Jose draft pick)
Molnar Villeneuve Challenger
Henderson Clayton Coughlan
Dean Street

DeAngelios Ewles
Petrovski Guo
O'Dell Blonda
Bruce

I still think we would be a little weak on the RD but thoughts???

WJ
Erie would have to move an OA they are already at the cap to accommodate, team would likely want Chitironi and Blonda not Digi. If you are trying to buy this year you need to go all in and get more than that. If you are dealing picks and our prospects you need to put the team in a position to take out Oshawa, Barrie, Brampton, Niagara, Brantford and Kingston.

I like your trades. I’d be literally shocked if Goyette was to return, it’s hard to leave pro hockey.
I cannot remember a time when our OAs were this talented and strong. I get it’s hard to trade OAs at this time of year but I can’t imagine that there is no demand for each of them.
Which brings me to my next point, if we get no offers for our OAs and Musty I feel we have no choice but to add. Our biggest need would be to add depth to our D and find a couple of bottom 6 grinder forwards. Maybe a little goalie depth if that opportunity exists.
I feel Sarnia, Flint, Saginaw, North Bay, SSM, Ottawa, OS, Guelph and Pete’s could use some picks and younger players to help us out..but build out the D first.
Wolfman: What would you do with no Goyette and the aforementioned teams as trade partners?

Petrovski can play the right side as a left shot D. He's done it this year and last year as well.

I was wishing you wouldn't ask but the way I see it the Wolves would be better to add this year and sell off Walton and Villy next year IMO.

I just don't think they would be deep enough next year to be in contention. However a big return for Musty, McCoy and possibly DeAngelios could catapult this team into contention next year with some solid 18 year old's and additional picks. Add in our two imports a solid OA pick up or two, a solid first rounder then its possible next year we contend. But it will be based on what we get in a Musty, McCoy deal.

I'm surprised at the amount of people suggesting that Musty is likely to stay put with the Wolves. Unless there is some inside info that I don't know of.

Musty sat out as long as he could awaiting a deal, was stripped of his letter, and seemingly has a poor relationship to the hockey club as a result of what transpired in September. Considering all that has happened, I don't see him changing his mind and wanting to stay - even if the team were to contend. Playing with Goyette is the only possible way I see him even considering staying - if rumours are true.

I feel like so many times, when people post here that they heard a "rumor". Its literally them just repeating soemones elses post saying "What if X happened"

If not too demanding, Papineau can get lesser OAs and picks for DeAngelis and McCoy on the day the Christmas trading freeze ends.
That would give the wolves two weeks to use Musty and nearly 30(2-5) picks to obtain any 2006-07 born that become available. There will be players that can help the wolves next season. The wolves have more and better assets at their disposal to improve the team as much or more than Niagara did year over year.

Aside from the Wolves having a full sell off which is the more likely scenario based on how teams like Oshawa, Barrie, Brampton, Bradford, Kingston and Niagara are playing. I do think Brampton will add and once healthy will be incredibly hard to beat.

But if the Wolves were to keep Musty and all of a sudden buy some pieces these are some of the guys I would be looking to pick up;

Defense (2 of these guys)

-Petrosvki
-Young
-Guo

Forwards

-McCue
-Chernyshov
-Wainwright

Wolves can make a deal with Owen Sound by sending Jackson and Chitaroni along Digi for McCue and Petrovski

Wolves can deal some picks (2nd two 3rds) and Bruce for Young and Wainwright

Wolves can deal picks or a prospect for Chernyshov.

Wolves line up;

Walton Delic Pharand
Musty Villeneuve Chernyshov
Molnar Wainwright McCue
Henderson Clayton Coughlan
Dean Street

Young Petrovski
DeAngelios Ewles
O'Dell McCoy
Blonda

Wouldn't really harm us for the future and the way we are coached I think we could compete with anyone in the East with this kind of line up.

I think you're light on the deal with Owen Sound for McCue and Petrovski. The rumored asking price on McCue started with an 08 first rounder. I think Petrovski is more easily had but to package him with McCue, it probably has to start with Blonda which likely makes that deal unpalatable for Sudbury. Whether or not they get their ask of an 08 1st rounder is debatable but that is apparently what they are after in return for McCue. I think the ask on McCue is on the high side due to him likely returning to the OHL for an OA season next year as he was drafted as a late birthday.

Yeah, Bedowski & McCue would be [Barlow = (Bedowski, Delisle, 2,3,3) +] or ~14 picks.

Judging by last year very little will be done before the deadline, possibly a few small tweaks apples for apples, l believe Musty 100 percent will finish here in Sudbury.

Any buying we do to make a run is going to cost us BLONDA, Chitironi, Jackson to start. There is no scenario Blonda would not be moved to add big pieces. McCoy was Taylor and a 3rd.

Imo Blonda is not going to be part of any deal. Hudson maybe. Not sure who he is, and when and if he will be able to put it all together. Digi has little value and same for Bruce.

If Musty has had a change of heart which is quite possible, perhaps RP keeps him. Wolves need more scoring. They work hella hard for the goals they do get. When musty came back, he scored goals that know one on this team can. Just by his shot alone. People trade for played like him and here you have him in your backyard. Should be interesting.

Because we are at the trade deadline here is a list of 18 or younger players that could be moved assuming they waive NTCs

06s Villy, Walton, Clayton, Bruce, O'Dell and Marshall
07s Clayton, Chitironi, Henderson, Jackson
08 Blonda

Everyone knows our current OAs, Dean wasn't a 1st rounder so isn't tradeable this season the remaining players will be OAs next year.
