True enough we don't want to go down that path BUT if we're smart we can aim for an OHL title to align with the new arena in, say.....2030?Don’t copy the steelheads 2024, geez.

I was thinking along the same lines... Predicting what season the new arena opens should have a betting line. Building for it will be a gamble. Very much agree Smith looked goodWalton's hands were on display tonight - not many players in the league that can make end to end rushes like that!
I liked Brady Smith's game tonight - looked good
Yeah. The team has looked pretty 'flat' the last 4 - 5 games. No edge at all.Looking like the Krawchuk of old..
I firmly believe the direction we take heading into deadline will be dictated by the offer or lack of offers for Musty. My gut tells me that Musty won't get traded, we sit in 5th spot Eastern Conference, without Musty most of the season. We have beaten, all the top teams in the East Barrie, Niagara, Brampton.
I feel Papineau will make some tweaks for depth and feels this team is good as any in the East with some help. Don't rule out a Goyette return, hearing rumblings that could be a possibility.
They also have tons of picks they can use at trade deadline to get some talent in return.
We are 1-5 vs Barrie, We were lucky to win the game against Niagara there, then got soundly beaten here. Then beat a Brampton team without their number 1 goalie, missing their top 2 scorers and like half their defence. Brampton played a half Jr A team that's not a win to make decisions one. Kingston has manhandled us as has Oshawa. We are number 5 based on a weak schedule we have alot of games in the back half against contenders. My gut tells me that Musty won't get traded, we sit in 5th spot Eastern Conference, without Musty most of the season. If goyette and dvorsky(he is going to wjc) come back it would likely be on condition they are traded.
If we had been in a series with Barrie, we already would have been knocked out of the playoffs. Yes Brampton has underachieved, it doesn't change the fact they have one of the best goaltenders in the league, some of the best offensive players in the east likely only behind Oshawa. Personally to me it would be detrimental to this organization to try and win the East this year.Like I said we will need to acquire some more depth but the core is there we have the assets of picks, but we have beaten good teams with current roster. Niagara, Barrie are beatable at the moment in a playoff series. Brampton has been underachieving with their full roster.
Oshawa leaped up last year with some great moves when almost looking like they weren't going to make playoffs, and made the OHL finals.
Goyette if he returns not going to get traded to some other team what I know. I don't see Musty getting traded Wolves will want to make an attempt to win the East.
Question: If nobody wants Musty, MCoy or DeAngelis, then what? Status quo? Or make the best of it and gain some playoff experience for young players? If we had been in a series with Barrie, we already would have been knocked out of the playoffs. To improve it would cost us most of Blonda, Jackson, Chitironi, plus picks 6x 2nd, 5x 3rds and 4x 4ths. It cost us Taylor and a 3rd for McCoy and Protz plus picks for NVV last year.
London just traded an 07 plus 7 (2x 2nds, 2 x3 and, 2x 4ths) picks for Allen.
Rumored asking for Pinelli to Barrie is Vaughan a top 5 pick from the past draft plus picks.
Brampton, Brantford, Kingston all but Brampton are around us in the standings and still have 7x 2nds plus in assets.
This is not the year, last year was our chance and the players blew it.
Wolves just beat Barrie, and should have won both of those games in the back to back if they didn't get screwed over on a goal review. All the games have been competitive and could have gone either way, except for one blowout. If we had been in a series with Barrie, we already would have been knocked out of the playoffs. They wouldn't be looking to add players the calibre of Allen & Pinelli in the scenario he mentioned. I would be very surprised, but if Goyette somehow did return and Musty comes back, those are the high end talent players you need. You can then add to an already good core with tweaks and depth moves like he said and still make a run. If Goyette doesn't return, I agree with an above post that the offers for Musty will help dictate the direction they go.To improve it would cost us most of Blonda, Jackson, Chitironi, plus picks 6x 2nd, 5x 3rds and 4x 4ths. The real issues were finally addressed (new coach, goalie coach, etc) and the team is far more organized this year and work hard every night. If Barney was the coach last year, it would have been an entirely different story as the players wouldn't have been able to act like spoiled brats all year with the culture he brings. This is not the year, last year was our chance and the players blew it.
I'm sorry but if you are aiming to win the East as was said the goal is, you need to get the best players available not tweaks. I.E. it has been mentioned we didn't get the right players last year for our all in year.Wolves just beat Barrie, and should have won both of those games in the back to back if they didn't get screwed over on a goal review. All the games have been competitive and could have gone either way, except for one blowout.

They've overachieved the first half fur sure. Wasnt expecting the amount of points they're put up. Second half should be interesting.Yeah. The team has looked pretty 'flat' the last 4 - 5 games. No edge at all.
not sure if you are a little slow? I am playing out what I think Papineau will do, my take he is going to keep Musty and he will tweak the lineup with some moves to add to the depth, and run with the team.If we had been in a series with Barrie, we already would have been knocked out of the playoffs. As I clearly stated in my post, this scenario would only be if someone like Goyette were to come back, which I don't think will happen. I personally don't think they should go for it either.I'm sorry but if you are aiming to win the East as was said the goal is, you need to get the best players available not tweaks.
