Sudbury Wolves 2023-24 Season Thread (Part 5)

Watched the game live. Musty’s shoulder got obliterated. He was trying to massage it and move it during the review and subsequently left and never returned.
Absolutely stunned at the refs. I’m a ref myself and I tend to not be critical of them but holy shit. Wolves got away with so much shit. Petes fans were booing hard at the end of the game. Crazy. Usually it’s the other way around.
Also, side note. Electric guitar anthem was not on my list of expectations at the PMC tonight.

You can also say the Petes got away with a lot stuff too. Seen a lot of badly reffed games this year but this one isn't anywhere near some the ones Wolves have played in.

Love that Villy slapped that right down the Petes throats for being so cocky all night.

Wolves are a 500 hockey team at best. Those numbers dip when Musty not in lineup. Don't get fooled by that 5 game win streak. At this time, it looks to be the fronts in the 1st round. I'm not sure how they plan on outscoring Kingston when they can barely beat a Pete's team. Trying to be optimistic as I can but also I'm a realist.

You most definitely have more fan experience than I do with the Wolves. As stated previously I do respect your input. I have posted thoughts and beliefs in the past that always accurate. By no means do I defend every decision made by the GM or management of the Wolves. I do agree, we as fans and the City are extremely fortunate to have Dario step up as owner of the Wolves, Five, Gladiators and Cyclones.
I just have a difficult time not responding to posts that make critical claims with no support.
My understanding is the Wolves have used Cubs affiliates when needed and agreed on by both teams. My understanding was a request to use Chartier for a home game was denied by the Cubs, he then got suspended in his next start with the cubs (I think in the Soo) and then due to the suspension the Wolves had to use the Cubs back up OA goalie. The need for goalie support was due to Chucky’s injury…
If this isn’t accurate I apologize to you.
Accurate. I don’t believe any affiliates have been used since the Chartier suspension.

In your opinion could musty have prepared himself better to receive that check? From my couch it looked like he had responce time before they check arrived. In other words brace himself upon receiving the hit.

What makes you think nothing of value was offered for Musty? RinP decided to keep him to supposedly go all in. Would you want us to believe nothing of value was offered for the likes of Delic,McCoy, and our other overagers? This was the Gms decision and we will never know what was offered for Musty and what other offers were put forward if they decided to be sellers. The future was put on hold when they decided to go on some kind of half ass run thus no returns on players that will be gone at the end of the season. My thoughts are different on the direction they went, what do others think?
I always favoured the sell, at least of Musty and one OA defenseman. Offers for Musty were better in the summer than they were when he held out and at the trade deadline.
I also understand the trade for Mews as another talented 18 year old. I understand buying for next year but not if you don’t sell this year, you can’t do both

So you're claiming no offers were made for Musty and that no teams wanted him? Perhaps OHL4Life can confirm that no offers we made?

Of course you tried blocking me because you were run in circles regarding your lies about the Wolves before the deadline. Typical.
Offers for Musty were much better in the summer. Not so much during the season or at trade deadline as contending teams already picked up what they wanted.

Frontsfan is right about one thing, the league knows about Musty on and off ice. His attitude and 200 ft game are much better this year and even better this month but there were definitely prior issues. This is not stirring up shit, this is fact.

Deleted now, but kudos to the classy Wolves fans posting on the wolves facebook page that said they hoped Musty was permanently injured.
Always morons on Facebook. Happens on the kingston one too. Real nice of people to hope a 19 year old kid is permanently injured.

Pass was behind him, he turned his head to look for the puck and never saw the hit coming
Think they call that a “suicide pass.” Happens in football too. Most of the time the hits anre clean and if anyone’s to blame it’s the person that made the bad pass. (However I never saw this hit on musty)

McKee’s bulldogs play the best team defence in the conference. Even in the rebuilding years he managed to stifle the battalion and ‘67s.
They do. They’re mostly in the right positions, they don’t give you much and they don’t take lazy penalties. McKee has a better group of players than Barney does

credit goes out to GM Matt Turek he fleeced us few times already. Trading for Leeders to start their season was hugh, he built a good team this season.

I don’t think there is a big difference in talent among the full rosters of Brampton, Brantford, Kingston, Oshawa, and Sudbury. I would say Brantford and Kingston are more able to put together more complimentary groups and are better coached to execute systems than Brampton and Sudbury.

Brantford simply paid a price no team would match for the best multi-year goalie available; and took advantage of a GM that did not select a D prior to round four or five from 2019-2022. Brantford did not have to trade defencemen with OA seasons remaining, Papineau was willing to overpay.

I think here you are forgetting the majority of Sudbury roster are really first year players, what the Sudbury Coaching Staff has done so far is quite impressive, I for one did not see this team doing much this year.

Even with a just decent rookie coach the wolves should have battle for home-ice in round one if large stretches were not missed by Clayton, Delic, Ewles, and Musty. I think that the wolves differ from Brampton in that Brampton does not have adequate #1 & 2 centres.
Pharrand was just disappointing after a decent start to the season.

MacDonell and Misa not adequate?

With the many holes and questions about the roster to start the season plus the injuries and drama, I think this should be considered better than expected

I've been posting by myself in a different thread 🤦‍♂️

The highlights;

- I'm too broke to buy one of those auction jerseys.
- Chucky was not getting any help in his first game back
- Ewles took a really stupid penalty against Brantford and I called for him to be benched
- The ice at the old barn has got to be the worst in the OHL.
- Very happy with a 2-1 OTW against the Petes. Points don't really matter right now in my opinion. Let's just stack some W's and finish strong.
- Marshall with another outstanding game. Let in 1 goal in the 1st period then never again on over 30 shots. Some huge saves. Hope he starts tonight.

Hope you enjoyed  Glad to find everyone again. Thought I was doomed to talk to myself lol
