They haven't had a decent goalie in forever because their pro scouting is trash.
Ken Holland signed Campbell to a five year deal, before the first season was done they refused to let him play in the playoffs.
20 games in to his second season he played his last game as an oiler.
That is not on the defense.
Sure, but Skinner is facing some of the lowest high danger and expected goals against so far in these playoffs and he has some of the worst stats. Its fun to blame it all on defence why their goaltending is bad, but the Oilers don't actually give up as much as people are trying to claim they do. In past years they did, but this year has been the best defensive season they've rolled out in the McDavid era and somehow Skinner can't even give them league average goaltending. He's inconsistent and he wilts in pressure games. He's a fraud.

Unlike the Oilers, the Pens played a solid 2 way game yet Fluery choked season after season. While Skinner hasn't been great, he's nowhere near as bad as you're making him out to be.

Penguins won the cup in 2008-2009 where Fluery in the 2nd round (like the Oilers) had a SV% of .862 and GAA of 4.73
Fleury had an .878 in that second round and it took penguins 7 games to win.
Go check what Skinner's stats are for this round.
Rewatch the game last night. The Oilers D and McDavid leave Boeser in front all by himself. And same thing on Lindholm. Not all high danger chances are equal.
And a poor D coupled with poor goaltending is a fatal combination.
Skinner playing like an ECHL goalie is how the Oilers are losing.
I figured Vancouver fans would know what Dan Cloutier v2.0 would look like when they saw it.
It’s one of a few reasons why the Oilers are losing.
Nurse and Ceci are another reason.
And McDavid getting completely shut down by the Canucks in game 1 (no shots) and game 3 (no points) is another one.

At this point you've provided nothing of substance to this thread other than some made up reality that hasn't happened. Like I said there's a reason that the stats don't support your opinion. But go off with your "lol stats" argument. Clearly your eye test is more valued in the hockey community.

Seems pretty major to me.
When was the last time the Oilers had decent goaltending?
Seems like the D might be as big an issue.

I don’t know that you get to use Skinner’s play as that much of an excuse when you have a whole other goalie in year 2 of a 5x5 contract and Skinner is the better option.
I'm pretty sure the fans didn't sign Campbell's contract, but let me check with Kenny before you quote me on that.
Gretzky and co were able to win cups with similar save% from their goalie.

If McDavid and Draisaitl could score more in the regular season, they would be winning more games, other teams would be forced to shoot more, inflating Skinner's numbers and get him a Vezina!

Has Skinner been terrible? Yes.
But he’s not the only one.
